sooo true man...

soooooooooooooooooooo true

I think it really comes down to luck then? I have always been extremely polite and they are usually heavy on the aggressive side when i get out of the car. I've been pulled over 8 times in total, only 1 time they were funny and had some KFC with me and a mate. (never been escorted to KFC before i'll tell you guys that) Port Melbourne police, watch out for them.

my last car was, slammed and extremely modded... got pulled over probably 7-8 times,

copped 1 defect (that i deserved, as I admittedly took off too fast in a 300kw car)

every other time I was poilte and courteous and was let off.

no way that's a coincidence.

I'm with you, Hamish, I've driven all manner of completely unroadworthy cars, some blatantly obvious, some not so, and have only ever once been given RWC grief and that was during a "if it moves pull it over and send it to the RTA" operation in Lismore one night. Even then the only things they picked me up for was a CAI I had made by removing a headlight (it needed a cover so I cut the bottom out of a milk crate). There was a myriad of things they ignored liek the non-AS seats, 2 litre where a 1600 should have been etc, etc.

I'm always extremely polite. The last time I got pulled over I got done for 74 in a 50 but let off for over taking over unbroken white line, not having an AS sticker on my helmet and have a non-standard fitting extending beyond the front-most part (GoPro) of the fairing. I was happy to cop the three points seeing as I dodged about 5 more not to mention he saved me about $1,000 in fines. If I was a rude prick there is no doubt he would have hit me for the helmet, overtake and GoPro.

I've been let off a number times before* and I'm fairly confident every time it was purely because I passed the attitude test with flying colours.

* I can think of six fairly lucky let offs off the top of my head and was going to outline them but on second thoughts, after typing them out, I might leave them for shooting the breeze at a meet one day/night :)

I believe I can sum this up...will being polite always get you out of fines and defects? No, but it doesn't hurt your chances. Being an asshole does. Truth is, it's luck of the draw and all you can do is try to influence your chances. Doesn't matter how polite you wanna be with someone like Petite, you're getting a fine. In contrast, other cops will let you off for minor offences and a bit of good manner.

Me, when I get pulled over, I treat the cop like I'm talking to any other person on the same level as me. I don't believe in acting like a suck up or being aggressive because of this guy's job...there's no reason the job should entitle any sort of manner different to other people you interact with. People just get aggressive or turn into a kiss ass because it's authority you haven't seen since you were a kid. It's the adult version of your parents telling you off when you were a kid and old habits die hard.

If I've been doing something wrong, I don't apologise to the cop...but it's probably the most common thing said to them during the suck up. You didn't hurt him/her, you broke the law...who are you apologising to? Write an open letter to the state...

100% right.

I took 2 defects and 1 EPA - even while being totally nice, that's out of being pulled over ~12 times during 2012.

Just how it goes and depends on the officer at the time as much as it does your attitude.

could you display a really bad attitude every time you get pulled over this year and then report back the result at the end of the year as a reference point (if your not in jail of course)

    • Howdy friends, So this evening I had a need to remove the rear compressor turbo pipe (long story, but I'm replacing it due to a bolt snapping off in the pipe and managing to then snap an extraction bit in the broken bolt, fun times -_-). The rear bolt is a bit of a bastard and very little room to get good leverage. I was able to get a 12 mm socket onto the bolt head, but none of my ratchets were able to fit, so I put together a "stubby" socket wrench to get it out and it worked surprisingly well 🙂. In the past I've "made" tools by cutting down spanners and bending them with a torch etc, but this 3D printed wrench was way less effort. I'll be keeping this one in my "special tool draw" from now on for sure ^_^b https://www.printables.com/model/868973-half-inch-stubby-socket-wrench
    • It looks even better in Person
    • It's good, but not as good as some people make it out to be on social media. Yes, you can feel the torque come in earlier, yes, it does make the car feel more lively below 4000rpm, and yes, it does feel more responsive, but it's not this 'unicorn' mod.  Everyday driving? Below 100km/h on Australian roads, it's worth it. At 110km in 6th gear mine will sit on about 2860rpm. Doing a Motorkhana or a small circuit? Yes, it's worth it. Doing Texas style speed runs? Prob not. Do you use the gears more? Yes and No. Doing 60/70km on most roads, I'm using the gears just like any other Getrag. 80km and above, you use 5th and 6th more often. Absolutely no issues driving with the 33 A-LSD. Didn't change the front diff, only changed the C&P wheel. Some people say to upgrade to a Quaife etc, but i've had no issue with torque steer or having it wander all over the road. The one thing that no-one really addresses is the issue of the Speedo being out. It's either use a speedo corrector, find a 33 gearbox speed sensor, or use an aftermarket display with GPS speedo.
    • Anyone know or have the timing specs for these cams?   i have messaged JUN for two months with zero response    they are 288in/288ex 11.6 lift
    • That would be a rarity. You can emulate the function of the stalk just by bridging the appropriate pins in the connector. If you can make it function correctly by doing so, then the wiring etc is OK and it is the stalk.
