Please give the OP actually facts and not your opinions

Everything I've mentioned here is fact, if you want to sit there and argue against it be my guest.

You can drift a wheel chair (this is fact! YouTube it lol), on a serious note YouTube CA18de auto drift, this is my mate "drifting" and that car was the slowest thing this side of molasses! You can drift ANYTHING commo falcon supra wheelchair it's irrelevant to the performance of the car

I don't see how drifting even comes into the argument

Yes lock it in.

I just think the people opinions of drifting on here is a little different to what drifting actually is. Like ACA thinking ken block is a drifter.

There is a difference between drifting and 'the car is sideways'

Aussie bogans and Americans on the other hand have this mentality that power is the most important thing with building a track car.

I actually strongly agree with this statement. We need to also consider and realize that aussie cars are still in the end family sedans, its not like an evo or wrx. It was built with the intention of going fast on public roads not on tracks, and that extra torque/kw was intended for toeing not dragging. The boaty like feel was done on purpose for family comfort. I know alot of people will argue with me however 2 of my mates owns a commodore. One owns a VE another a VZ. My mates VZ's engine dried out all the oil, oil just turned into sludge and the motor just choked. His service was due in 5 months. That vz was obviously driven like a race car. The guy with the VE blew his motor while being a dickhead and flooring it down greens road. Falcons however i havent witnessed anything bad.

Correct me if im wrong but why do you thing ford is switch to 4cyl turbo? Its cause they are trying to be environmentally friendly and satisfy customers needs of fuel efficiency as oppose to power. Also why do you think p platers are allowed to drive these cars but not evos or wrxs? They are very similar arent they? Both 4cyl, both turbo? Its cause of the intention of the manufactuer was different for the ford, they built that car to drive normally. =)

That being said, SS and HSV (mainly the HSV) was built with the intention of marketing to a true car enthusiast.

Dont get me started on American cars, theres actually a video by motor trend called the worlds greatest drag race 2. An over powered shelby gt500 with 660hp vs a 530hp r35, r35 raped it. Not always about power! It was a full 1/4 mile race, This is the question i always ask in regards to amercan cars: whats the point of having power if its not utilized correctly?

OMG so much stupidity in here from the NA brigade!

So many fails and contradictions in their own arguments and so many facts missing!

You just claimed an R35 is quicker then a Shelby! Get them on the roll! The higher power will win, give them both the same AWD and electrical trickery to full throttle launch.

Better yet, race them over a full KM!

As to drifting, funny that one of the cars that was continuously at the top of the game a few years back was a V8 Monaro and then the Crewman ute!

Lastly, you might want to watch the video where the D1 guys take the Vauxhail VXR I think it was (our old hsv gto) and at the end they want it. Why? Effortless power and it held slides so well!

Lastly, sport model commos and falcons aren't boaty they're actually stiff, standard model commos and falcons are boats.

Yes lock it in.

No we understand drifting, you're not understanding that we've seen this sport become huge, and now it's starting to die off, it is no longerthe fastest growing event.

WTAC is actually australias fastest growing motorsport event.

Please tell me where a monaro is regarded as a drift car anywhere in the world? It would of been a piss take saying it was fun. Like you in your jazz lol.

And wtac is in no way growing faster then drifting. Drifting is becoming more popular because it is a freestyle sport. It's not about times, scores and points. It's about at the end of the day you hda an awesome time with mates. And can just have fun. It's also cheap and is the most fun you can have in a car, when you remove your emotional attachment with a car and just drive is when you will truly enjoy Motorsport.

And I know from everything you's have said that you definitely know a lot more then me about circuit/drag racing. But you will never be competitive at it. Unless you win the lotto tomorrow. But I know that you know very little about drifting and think of it as kids sport, but I don't ever have to worry about being competitive because their is no times/points/score for me to be disappointed with at the end of the day. And I know I am spending thousands of dollars less then you's and have double the fun

not anymore coz they are going to a control tyre this year......LAME!!

and that is also in AUS that its dying off

This is why:

LOL yea didnt consider that =p

And omg so your saying on a track with twisties a r35 is slower than a gt500?? And ontop of that give the gt500 awd and electrical trikery? Now whose talking stupid. If that were the case i can easily say just give the r35 more power. This is what i meant by "cant utlize power properly" cause the gt500 has none of that in their engineering Zr1 is a proper example of an awesome american car, that was built to be good at everything not just silly 1km races, it also demolishes the r35, well built ls9 motor as well. Something the gt500 lacks. .Also if you stop being a douche bag for 1 minute and read carefully you would see i wrote 1/4 MILE!! not 1 bloody km, in the long run any car with high hp will win! Its just becomes a top speed run. Its just soo impractical. Gt500 might be faster on 1km and a roll but thats just it. Put more power into that thing and it wont do any better. Put more power into a r35 and it will leave that gt500 in the dust in every race! And guess what, thats a fact!

Wow... That must of taken a lot of skil..... I mean money to do something so pointless and bogan. I feel like I am growing a mullet and losing teeth by watching that clip

Look out dude... Your jealousy is showing lol

(Plus he did it one handed.... With a pink cowboy hat, beat that :P)

Yeh can't wait til I have a blown commie, so I can move at 10kmh while frying tyres hahaha

Also above guys new to stop saying 'give this to that car' or 'If this car had this' it would win or 'if the race were longer and rolling start'. Who cares, that's not the case! That's like saying, yeh my n/a skyline will beat your r33 if I had a 15second start and you were missing 2 cylinders and it was a 200m race.

Who races over 1km? Seriously? Gtr beats the Shelby cus its a better car. Don't say what is needed for the Shelby to win, cus if you just add a corner the 35 will just show it up again

Scroll back 2 or 3 pages and watch my video I posted of me at QR?

And I have been to Japan 3 times and going back in march. I never said sils and skylines weren't preset in early drifting. But by you saying that you had trouble driving your 86 just goes to show that your level of driving skill isn't very high, therefore you go to a turbo car and say they are 'better' when you really mean its 'easier'

Are you retarded? You didn't read my comment, I clearly said I had used momentum or other means of getting sideways in the ae86, like you can in ANY car n/a or turbo, never did I mention struggling to drift.

If you going to Japan and (kinda) drifting an n/a skyline is what makes you the king of drift and things awesome then we should all bow.

Did Keichi want your autograph?

There are Commodores entering the drift scene, Nick Coulson has done pretty well actually. I'd almost be willing to bet that all of the Commodore haters have never driven one of note.

It's just hilarious that people who own the Skylines that were used as taxis and grandpa's runabout having a superiority complex. Enjoy your underpowered, underbraked 4 stud pov pack, while the rest of us drive cars worth driving.

I've driven a non turbo RB30 and that was bad enough, the thought of driving an N/A RB25 or RB20 is quite painful.

Let me guess, your reply will involve you carrying on about semi trailing arm vs double wishbone suspension setups or chassis stiffness? Heard it all before, utter semantics when comparing apples to apples (ie modified suspension setups).

In case you hadn't noticed, there is also a lot of crap that comes out of Japan, like anything made by Veilside to pick one example.

EDIT: BTW there was a track comparison done between the 2011 Shelby GT500, Z06 Corvette (LS7 N/A) and the 2012 GT-R, the GT-R was a bees dick faster than the Z06 lol.

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
