Yes a couple of threaded holes in the spacer is a good idea maybe with studs and thin spacers to form an air gap .

Yep, that's exactly what I did.

And before I fixed my spelling on last post I think every word was spelt wrong!

The 52T is now fitted and the front dump will be made in situ tomorrow morning .

Problems along the way were GCGs studs having the wrong threads and new breather and recirc pipes had to be made to suit Scottys induction pipe .

The 76 is well hidden under the std induction + airbox and comp outlet plumbing and if you look closely you can just see the "lobster tail" welds on the inlet pipe which is now VHT Caliper black . The nude turbine housing and spacer look different but the bulky turbo bag with bold red Garrett lettering will "hide" that . Thinking back that bag was probably a reasonably expensive mistake but time was not on our side and I couldn't afford to cook things around the hot side . Longer term I'll look into that ACL mat I reckon .

I'm looking forward to trying a 30 series and once everything is set up for these housings going a little bigger or smaller is much easier .

^ alternatively you could use the stock heat shield. Using some flat bar you "could" make a bracket that bolts up to the power steer reservoir and bolt it to the existing two holes on the shield.

Looks OEM..

I did something kinda similar, however had to chop off a massive chunk to clear the external gate and screamer pipe lol

Nothing wrong with the heat bag. Not sure the flash red advertising is exactly consistent with the "stealth" appearance objective thrown about?

Guessing the advertising cost a fair whack over the Plain Jane alternatives.

Either way you're about to step into a whole new engine performance league so I hope you're organised to tune as soon as possible.

Red lettering clashes will my hair . Will look into a moded heat shield because the more std camouflage the better .

I'll have it back in an hour or so and the road tuning I should be able to do myself .

If it's a toey thing I can go back to E70 because that's less likely to detonate than home brew E35 .

But yes tune needed and I prefer to do that when the EV14s go in , one tune then .

I'll take some photos of my hacked up heat sheild this weekend.. it's not the nicest thing, because I have an external gate mounted on my rear housing but it will give you an idea

The "faceless men" LOL .

It happened - in 3.5" tube back to the cat and is painted black .

To be truthful aside from the spacer and bag it's difficult to tell it isn't standard , you have to look very closely between the factory pipes and airbox and then all you may notice is a couple of welds on the satin black inlet pipe . It's bag is down low enough that you can't see the lettering at all .

Sound wise it's very nearly the same as it was before around the burbs anyway . I have not leaned on it because all I was interested in doing was getting it home through the inevitable school zones and suicide hour traffic .

Naturally it doesn't boost at low revs and light throttle like the GTRS did and it needs fuel and timing changes because boost thresholds are different .

If I can get those shorty EV14s in with a modified Neo rail then the package is about as "std" looking as an R33 get to be IMO .

Pics later .

or just buy deatschwerks side feeds, stock rail, stock plugs, stock FPR.. winner winner!

Blerh. :P

^^ This.

Have you even tried the Neo rail for ease of fitment yet Disco? I want to start recommending it for my top feed Xspurt kits. Hurry up will you... :)

Have to let finances settle a bit but the Neo , Stag actually , rail I have already .

Injectors next and thinking along the lines of Xspurt 740s or ID 850 GMs , the shorty ones for least grief . The plan is to borrow both inlet manifold halves off SK and see what mods the rail mounting tags need to hold short EV14s down properly . If it works it should look factory enough to fool those who need to be .

Yeah what you said about the Denso side feeds , not bad on ethanol but if you want the factory like fuel control at low pulse widths then EV14s probably do it best .

Last GT30 update here because it's getting beyond fitting hardware . Went for a short run down the Princes Hwy to the Berg and back up the old road . Mixtures were surprisingly normal but needs work as it spools/loads up . It still feels typically RB25 torquey/flexible just without the early boost onset , depending on gear and load it shows positive pressure sometimes as low as 2300 revs but the transition is very smooth . Exhaust tone is if anything better than it was and interestingly inlet air temps are down ~ 5-6 degrees .

I sense less exhaust pressure and I think that shows as less throttle more often . In theory less throttle and increased charge density (lower IAT) should lead to better consumption .

GTRS and matching front/dump pipe for sale , cheers A .

You may recall I advised of a noticeable improvement in light load fuel consumption when I went up from GT2871 highflow to the GT3076.

It should take a few (2-3) more degrees advance at higher loads than the GTRS at similar points on the map. You've just made the engine a lot more comfortable and the tune will show you that.

Get the ranga shots up too.

Congrats on your mode to the world of "not strangling that poor RB25"! :) Sounds like you have already tasted the lovely sound and attitude of an RB25 that doesn't have asthma, I miss the smooth spool/rev of my old setup. Is yours the anti-surge housing, and does it make the silly noises the 56trims did?

Yes its a real one and no silly whistle sounds , no bell mouth insert either .

I'm having a few dramas with Vipec software ATM but that's more me than it . It wants to throw up multiple tables on the one screen where I prefer to use one at a time .

I wouldn't say it's the most boost happy thing but it's early days and I'm not on top of the boost control functions either .

    • I already have the ability to datalog the voltage... what I can't do is correlate it to what the gauge is showing when I'm looking at the data at a later date. Or something like this. Except getting the oil to 125C+ involves me going 200+kmh at the track so you can imagine this is a little tricky unless I do something like note what the voltage is when I am at the top of 5th gear so I have a point to reference on. Drove car today. O2 still reading richer because hopefully not a leak instead of massive restriction I've introduced. Car really doesn't sound like a LS. It's quite strange. Pulled a bit of fuel out up top. This does potentially explain why my spark plugs looked like the car was running pretty over-rich. If I was tuning it to a ~12.7 which in reality was far richer than that in the past. It will be handy to have the dyno WB to compare my WB to to compare notes that's for sure. At this point I'm happy to just sit in the passenger seat and tune the thing given I've got about 7 million hours on the platform lol.
    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.

    • sensible choice....and all 32s should be in yellow
    • Run it in open loop for now, and drop the frequency down. This lowers the resolution and requires more duty cycle to do anything, however good to troubleshoot.
