There is but only one criticism I have of your setup, and no, it's not the fact it's auto...

The radiator support, if your gearbox and motor setup was anything like mine, it means you're going to have to do the old split the gearbox and motor apart while in the car if you need to pull the motor out again... It's my only issue, I personally would have made that rail a bolt in piece...

And in saying that, it makes me want to finish mine off really badly :(

Yer I'm aware of this, I have a sneaky feeling that if its a bolt in piece it's illegal :/... Ill have to do more research lol.

GT-R > S2 > S1

It has an LS1, it needs a big T wing! haha

Come on Nik, more photos, more updates! And do your best on the weekend to get a vid of it running!

Now I know why you mentioned about putting a Holden badge on your R33.....

You should put an HSV badge on it :nyaanyaa:

haha u didn't realise from you know my car, listed... There <<<<

No hsv badge, thinking about a gts57 sticker done in gts25-t font ;).

And I'll do my best this week end for some videos mmmmkay, won't be anything exciting that will have to wait until happy laps in April.

Quick rev just to prove it runs ;) (best listened to with headphones as its really deep)

Haha no worries man, and yer i only live about 45 minutes from willowbank so the car is being built as a weekend car for a bit of fun (but obviously with drag racing in mind as its my Motorsport of choice ) and also as something different to a majority of the other 33s you see around.

When I eventually get it out to the strip ill post up videos.

yep, heard that.

I had my time at the drags a while back. A bit of hike for me though coming from the Gold Coast, but now I intend to be doing the same trip but to QR instead as I have converted from drag to circuit ;)

be great to catch up one day.

Don't do it, I thought the same thing 2 years ago when it was not the abomination it is today (And NIck I believe I was the first to call it an abomination) and I haven't been able to get rid of him ever since

bahhh ahahahaahah Cap must be a top bloke then ;)

Nice write up mate. Love how easy you make it seem to fit the LS1 in lol.

Can't wait to see where this goes though :)

Haha I can't give away all the secrets, there is some issues you will run into ;)

Hell yer man come up I attend most Wednesday night test and tunes just go around poking people and screaming "CAPTAIN!" until u find me lol

So had the car into an ultratune (rip off merchants of the earth) to be put over a diagnostics machine to find out what is wrong with this stupid gearbox the pricks charged me 106.45 for mayb 15 minutes "work" ie plug machine into obd2 port.

Anyway, it returned the errors codes for shift solenoid a&b and torque converter lock up failure. They basically told me to fark off as the had no interest in dealing with the issue any further. So now I'm back to square one, ill be checking the transmission fuse this arvo (as it only just occurred to me that it could be blown), other than the I guess it's anyone's guess as to what's wrong and just start with trial and error

THE PROBLEM: no 1st or 4th gear even when manually trying to select them, car takes off in 3rd unless you physically lock it in 1st or second in which case it starts in 2nd gear.

(Could be a faulty shift solenoid... I duno )

If anyone has experience with a 4l60e gearbox help is appreciated

Have you not got an auto place to take it too? If its a shift solenoid its not the end of the world man....

Is it staying in limp mode (assume 3rd) due to the fault codes? Did they clear them?

Yer up in Toowoomba, everything's just an inconvenience due to the stupid p plates, will ring some auto places later this week. Hopefully a solenoid change isn't to expensive (if that's even what it is)

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
