i run a NPC single 10" carbotic in a 400 rwkw rb26/30 powered drift car.. it loves it. Clutch has been going for near 3 years now, took it out not long ago and it had only worn 5% of the material off... so well and truly still serviceable!

wowowo

thankyou.....

Another happy NPC customer here. Not running as much power as some others but im really happy with mine. Sounds like the same as what they offered you. Hasnt missed a beat in 3 years I think ive had it. Getting it rebuilt soon purely because the gearbox will be out unless it still has plenty of meat

Lash out and get the NPC flywheel if you have the money to. Its a good product and saves 3-4kg from memory

^ with the carbotic, I found it harder to drive than a 4 Puk Exedy ceramic clutch, but once you get used to it, it's fine.. just avoid hills lol.. I usually bake tyres starting off on steep hills.

However, I have driven an EVO with a NPC Organic, it's quite pleasant to drive.

ok thanks - what do you mean harder to drive? when releasing clutch where it engages? is that what ppl mean (taking off from a stop) if this is what it means i feel like an itdiot lol

Taking off can be rough. It cant be ridden or else the it causes shuddering so you gotta push the rpm up. 3 years is awesome life span. How many km have you guys done in that time? Up hill in rain is terrible. In actual fact I avoid big up hills when its raining, mostly and especially car park ramps. Make sure you do bed the clutch in properly.

I used a 5puk for a week and then removed it, in traffic it was terrible, my gearbox and driveline felt like it was getting raped..

Unless your car see's ALOT of track work then don't bother..

Keep in mind, the organic will take a good beating but I would imagine that the heat will get to it after prolonged abuse, so maybe a lightened flywheel with cooling slots would be a compromise, but that's another subject. I vote for NPC organic.. done..

yeah i guess it is hard to pick as i might drive it to work once a week low traffic and or once or twice week jsut cruising round - reset will be on the track -

i think this clutch will be a good starting point for me as things might change and car may end up 90% track/ drift so to start off will see how this goes

when you guys have replaced ya clutch and seals - where are you getting your seals ? basic nissan seal or an aftermarket seal?

Nissan, do not get ling long..

eBay US is a good place to find them OR kudosmotorsports is good too.. (a little pricey, but good service and speed)

With the NPC carbotic, do you guys gently ease the clutch in when taking off, or just dump it with a few thousand rpm (like i do)? I heard these clutches CANNOT be slipped at all.

The carbotic can be driven like most clutches, if you are gentle you get a slight shudder and if you a harsh you get skids :woot:

Genuine Nissan! Wasnt that bad from memory!

ive had npc bigmouth 10" clutch for 3yrs now bought in sep 2010, 3 test n tunes, 5 powercruises and its still going.. power has been around 400-480rwhp mostly thru out the 3yrs

Bigmouth? :P hehe....... My Jim Berry has done 2 powercruises and mainly street duties BUT i love it!

Good to know, i went with the NPC 10" Carbotic pull- type for the GTT, was expensive (god damnit pull type!) but it should last me a fair while. When bedding it in should i slip it, dump it or a half/half situation?

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
