Just wondering how these are and what would be the best all are at good prices... Its for for my r32 gtr on JAPANESE OHLINS atm NOT the English ones... I need something adjustable for the ride height especially... my current ones are not and are very stiff I would rather something not as stiff

I also want good ones I mean sometimes you are buying for the brand name... but realistictly sometimes thats just it, 3k and 1.5k no difference in quality but your paying for the name... is this one of those things honestly? I am clueless when it comes to suspension/coil overs etc...

FOr example Aragosta is like around 3k.. I can get any of the above for around 1.5k

What would you choose out of these 3 and is it worth it? Will I regret it, My car is not an every day driver and mainly street driven... 330awkw and my slow Goal I am building it up to be 430-480awkw..

Soon :

Rims going to be 18x10 +22 and I have camber kit ready to go ... So far I am on stock rims lowered and no coilovers as I said Ohlins

How old are the Ohlins? I would expect them to be better dampers than the HSDs. So if it were me, I'd be thinking about what it would cost to get the Ohlins modified for height adjustment.

Sorry re-read my post Its changed and Its the Japanese Ohlins Not the proper English ones... These are apparently japanese copies

And I bought this car fresh from Japan in 2006 it had 68k on the clock Its a 1994 GTR and it had the same suspension (ohlins) when I got it who knows how long for in Japan

i'm assuming your Ohlins are a set of damper + springs right? If so they can be modified to become a 'coilover' kit with height adjustment but obviously no damper adjustment unless you already have that. There is a DIY on this forum, search, OR else if you want to pay someone to do it, I'd recommend contacting SK/Gary, or a local suspension shop (ask for suggestion in your area), no idea where you're located.

Yes... Guys apparently someone told me these are japanese copies.... There not the Ohlins that you may think off. English branded ones.. Funny thing is this guy was in a suspension place and said if they have japanese writing on it they are jap copies... Is he full of shit?

But anyways They are too stiff and I have a good feeling this is the reason for the skipping effect I get when I give it and flick it from 1st to 2nd I get this hopping effect...I feel its the stiffness and its not damping enough... DOes anyone know what the spring rates are on the jap ohlins??

my mate just told me he actually has HSD and I have actually felt these they definatley feel nicer than mine.. They are 9/7

Sorry the guy worked in a tyre shop not a suspension place but i guess they deal with suspension.. Now that I have done my research I think he is full of shit.. Cause ohlins is also made in japan.... But yeh THe damper is on full Soft and its still hard... I mean It thuds when I go over humps

I had some trouble with the knobs. I pulled each of them off, then undid the cap thing, then turned the thread inside with an allen key to get it loose. You should be able to feel when it stops turning with a light hand.

haha yes your guy was completely wrong. there are the swedish ohlins and the japanese licensed-but-still-official-ohlins.

spoken to a few mechanics about coilovers before i got my bilsteins, and they recommended HSD very highly. take from that whatever you want.

Yep thanks for all your comments, For the price of the HSD and my mate has them in his GTR and he loves them, not a single problem.. I even asked the guy to see if he can give me 8/6kg Spring rates which happen to be the manager at otomoto and he says he could, but he really does not recommend 8kg for the front as the Front of the GTR is quite heavy and its possible to bottom out depending on ride height.. But he said he was happy to give me 6kg for the rear but he said it is not much different at all from the 9/7 original.. And he basically said to me how about I give you the proper ones and I will also chuck in a free pair of rear springs rated 6kg .. I could not pass up that offer .. Price is amazing and I have heard nothing but good feedback from these coil overs as well.

Done deal I have done my shopping and will pick these babies this week

^agreed, I'd be cautious taking any suspension advice from this guy as he clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Just for fun google the popular brand name coilovers (so not all the chinese/korean/taiwan ones with 12/10) & see what the spring rates are...

Go shockworks they are local here in melbourne, cheap rebuild and have been tuned specifically for the car and will give you a ride in one of there r34s with them fitted once you see how good it handles you will not be disappointed.

Out of the three the Blitz coilovers will be much better than the HSDs or the BCs but with that sought of power goal in mind you'd be stupid not to look at getting the Ohlins serviced/rebuilt, awesome set ups.

Why do you say Blitz are better than HSD or BC?

Why do you say Blitz are better than HSD or BC?

The range of dampening adjustment seems to work better on them, they ride nicer and judging by how many HSD and BC kits that I see that have problems early in their life be it leaking, knocking or memory steering I'd say the general quality seems better.

The BC ERs seem like a decent bit of kit but anything below that is asking for trouble IMO.

Perhaps a TEIN Comfort Sport coilover kit might be good for a road registered R32 GT-R?

if a little bit of detective work is done, one may find that blitz and BC coilovers are made in the same factory, and that the low end Blitz and BC are exactly the same coilovers underneath.

Are the Blitz "ZZR" the entry level units? Most of the ones I've had experience with have come from Japland and I don't think are/were the entry level models.

So I may not be comparing apples with apples here but I'll stand behind my comment and say if you're getting BCs, get the ER series.

If only someone had shock dyno plots of them. BC sends you dyno plots don't they?

Just because they come from Japan doesn't mean they're awesome. They're <$1,200 for a reason.

Yeah but I'm fairly sure that these weren't the entry model sub-$1.2k jobbies

    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
