Hey guys ive been wondering why i have been paying more for registration and its because my rego paper say my tare weight is 1530kg which is bullshit!

is there a place besides dickson where i can get my vehicle officially weighed or has anyone been through this before and is there another way i can get it changed.

Cheers

Thats a interesting one........

I think the tare weight on the RTA system was either made when the car was first complied on AUS roads or they are basing it from manufactures specs.....

Would be interesting to see if there actually is a way around it, but i can only assume you cant or if you could it wouldn't be a easy process.

Well i just went to a gov approved weight bridge and with a completely full tank, a full size spare and 15kg of fuel it came in at 1450kg. So my actual cwr weight is about 1380kg. So ill be contacting rego to get it changed even if going to dickson. Lower weight bracjet wnds at 1504kg so bevause mine says 1530 im currently paying $140 EXTRA per year.

When I imported my R33 they made me go weigh it myself - I went to the tip at Mugga Way. And yeah it was 1380kg.

Yeah even though i had it weighed at a government approved weigh station. I still have to take it to dickson for a full inspection to get it changed. Im not going through the bull crap again. It is too much time and effort and i work and live south side. Oh well atleast i know how much my skyline weighs now.

I trimmed down your post :ninja:

not nice terry.

We're speaking about shell, not me...

in nsw its possible, but hard.

as they dont want to lose the extra cash.

had a mate do it along time ago.

the reason for the full inspection would be, they see it as that weight, and if its not, it must have been modified.

he ended up getting it done.

nut, they weren't happy.

Rego has my car down as 1418kg, but I found that an R33 4 door is 1390kg and Coupe is 1370kg (manual). 1410kg & 1390kg (auto).

As my car was Auto but converted to manual in Japan, I queried this with them and was told, if I got a Weighbridge Receipt (for $25.ish from the Tip in Mitchell,) then they could change it. (this was at least a year ago.)

But I never did as it would still be in the same pricing bracket anyway.

The other thing is Shannons have my car down as being a HR33 instead of ECR33.

According to them they don't have ECR33 in the Database?

LOL pretty sure my car's listed as a sedan on my rego papers and my R33 always had GTS with Shannons.... I checked with a mate who works there to make sure they didn't think it's a non-turbo and he was like, nah all good. I wouldn't stress :D

My rego also says silver sedan..

JustCar seem to have it right if I remember correctly.

Bit late to the party, but I found it amusing that when I got my R33 inspected the dude just asked me how much it weighed and I was like "Umm, I believe the kurb weight is supposed to be 1350kg or thereabouts"

"sounds good enough to me"

wut lol

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
