Well then every cop I have been pulled over is a c*nt.. I always try to be nice but not sucking up their ass nice..

And they just be the biggest wanker about it..

Got pulled over last weekend driving my mum to her mates in a RAV4 along a road that I KNOW cops sit at (60ks) I was going 55 got pulled over..

Cop said I was speeding and as soon as I opened my mouth he was yelling at me trying to get me to say I was speeding, just remember they record the conversation..

He finally let me drive off after searching ME and breathalyser and I literally said hardly anything the whole time

Looks like they have you in their black book, or they just hate you. Bad neighbourhood?

Remember they record your conversation, so ask them to prove you were speeding. Ask them to state their badge number etc. so it's all in the recording.

I wonder if you can record the encounter (legally speaking).

I wouldn't say "bad neighbourhood" Miami, Gold Coast?? Haha

And I really don't think I've been black listed. (No criminal record)

Unless they got me from when I first got my P's going 100ks to 60ks coming off M1.. Lost my liscence for a yr and learnt my lesson. Really hope I was black listed for that :(

Depends on the person wearing the badge I reckon. Perhaps he has pulled you over, or seen you do stuff, or maybe he mistaken you for someone else, or doesn't like your ethnicity, whatever the reason being.

You can.

You just have to inform them politely.

I was thinking that, but what if they can arrest you for recording them? Lol. Privacy laws or something?

Officer: You're being recorded

Me: So are you *points to in-car camera*

I went through a RBT, licence check and "random" vehicle inspection station. When I pulled up I had my phone on record the whole time.

All went to plan until my mate started ringing me. I restarted the recording and then the officer caught onto it.

He told me that he was recording the conversation if I wanted to use it in court later on. I told him that's fine mate and I continued recording without trouble.

(I was holding the phone in my hand normally, being discrete with it but participating in the conversation)

I gave it a little hit around a corner, lost traction, and didn't notice the cop stopped on the side of the road. He waved me down and gave me a lecture, checked my records, checked over the car, told me to stop being an idiot and let me off.

Greatest. Cop. Ever.

I was very co-operative and apologetic though, your attitude towards cops goes a long way.

That's exactly right. I'm a firm believer in "Treat people how you expect to be treated".

really depends on the officer, 3 weeks after I brought my 32 ( back in 2002) I was pulled over down the road from my house doing a U turn and after 45mins the officer says "nice car but I better get back to work", really nice guy,

the next night a police car goes past me in the other direction, he pulls over and does a U turn, I figure he's coming for me so I pull over to wait for him, he pulls in in front of me and then I get in to a heated discussion about how legal the factory head lights on the car are with him, complete cock

5 years later, I passed a police car leaving my area, 1km up the road sitting on the speed limit I see a car catching me at a massive rate, it pulls up behind me turn the blue and red lights on pulls me over, the first thing he says to me is " pretty funky tyres you have on the car, what did they cost you " I reply " $550 per tyre" he says " so you've got some money then " and precedes to defect me for the factory ride height, after kicking the lower lip on the front bar telling me its to low, tyres ( RE55s ) he says I'm not allowed semis even after I show him the DOT rating making them street legal, and pod filters, which he says are a fire risk from fuel fumes

I am always nice and polite to officers till they start pulling out BS and I know they are going to give me a defect any way

I hope someone with legal background can chime in and confirm, but can you ask the officer to state their badge number, base station etc. when they pull you over? What about refusing to co-operate if they don't provide their ID?

I don't understand why the police have the power to defect you when it's clear some of them don't know what they are defecting you for (e.g. standard ride height). At least use the 100mm block to check height or dB meter to check exhaust volume.

Got my 33 gtst the moment I went on my opens been 18mths now and been pulled over 3 times all random breath checks are crazy hours of the morning like 1/2am etc. Sometimes just comes down ti how you drive it and also prior owners records that go with that plate.

I know 100% you are within your legal rights to record when a cops pulls you over. Also if a cop refuses to show his badge you can pretty much tell them to f**k off and leave lol. As for getting pulled over it's all about attitude and the way you drive. Also the time of day. If you are out past midnight cops are going to be tired of catching idiots out on the road, they are tired and want to go home. They will have a shorter fuse, so be polite and hope for a good one.

The sad thing is 99% of cars in Australia can be defected for some reason or another. If a cop is defecting you for ride height or noise chances are you can be defected for something else. How many of us are running in cabin boost controllers? At the end of the day if you get defected for stupid reasons keep your mouth shut and hope that they don't go into more depth and find other things.

And considering technically coilover suspension requires an engineers cert. Consider a standard defect lucky lol.

They can defect you for whatever they want. I read a mag entry that said that they got defected for factory STi aluminium pedals. There should be a system where if you clear defects without touching the car, the police department should compensate you :D.

Sydney Compliance Centre guys would love that Ravi.

A copper pulled over the CEO and wanted to defect him in 3 ways.

The CEO said, "You realise don't you that as soon as I go around the corner, I can clear these?"

Copper: "No you can't"

CEO: "Yes I can - and I will"...

What about QLD (Brisbane & Gold Coast) if I got defected and wanted to get an engineering cert. for them, what would the best way to go about this?

No need to give me numbers/names, I am just curios.

Also a compliance centre, do we have the pits or cams here? (Unsure what it is called)

To take my car if I needed to get things cleared.

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
