Howdy,

I have a R32 GTR with 350 rwkw I use for circuit sprints and hillclimbs,

I've had the brake booster fail during a race and I collected some Armco.

Two Questions,

1 Has anyone else had a booster fail and do they know why?

2 where can I get relpacement panels, be them fibreglass or aluminium?

I need:

Bonnet

Left side front guard

Bumper

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Geoff

Howdy,

The brakes were assisted and operated ok on the first application.

100 meters later when they were reapplied there was no assistance from the

booster and the pedal was very hard.

20 seconds after the crash (with the motor still running) the pedal started to

move and the brakes acted as normal again.

I drove the car back to the pits and the brakes operated normally all the way back.

Once the car is repaired the booster will go as I no longer trust it.

It would be nice to know why it happened though.

Cheers

Geoff

If you haven't had a period of time that the engine is in vacuum, such as being on the throttle most of the time between brake applications, the situation that you have described can occur, as the booster system will not have had a chance to recharge. Without looking at the car, I would suggest that it isn't the booster itself that has failed, as the one way valve that is connected to the manifold and is supposed to only open when there is a vacuum in the manifold, is in need of a clean or replacement as it is not closing properly, and allowing for the booster system to be pressurised.
