I've cooked my engine, so it's not worth it getting it fixed. Was going to send it to the wreckers, but thought I'd put it up here in case anyone wants it.

I'm the first registered owner in Australia. In the 8.5 years I owned the car I'd never had a problem with it - it's been perfect, until now. It's a shame I cooked the engine because I didn't realise how often a car this old needed new coolant in the radiator :S

Ok... because I listened to my stupid mates, it seems I've underestimated my market...

I have to up my price then I guess, due to the response I've had so far.

But yes $1250 for a new engine fitted is the way to go. Either that or part it out yourself and get a nicer car than an excel.

^ I wanted to do that at first. But it seemed like an engine + labour would be at least $4k. Everyone I spoke to said I'd be better off spending that on a newer car

Just part it out yourself man. You'll make a couple of K and be able to buy yourself something nicer than an excel, maybe even another 33.
