Hey I have this r33 gtst which i bought about 2 months ago from a mate. It had bits taken off the engine so i got another rb25det which has done like 90000km and slapped it in. It was running fine in the other car and when i got it into my car it was running well. I was driving only a day ago when it started to cough and splutter and run real bad! If i tried revving it, it would stall so i took off the afm and it ran abit better but was stillrunning really rich. I change the coils and cleaned the injectors looks like uts getting too much fuel. Would the afm be the main issue? Its lightly modded fmic, 3 inch exhaust and pod filter which is about it. Help me out guys really need to get this running cause i was planning it to be my daily as just got it running ahahah any help will be appreciated

Hold on here.

Did you check intercooler pipes and all vacuum lines?

It sounds like you have a boost leak hence why it started dumping heaps of fuel and stalled.

Unplugging the afm puts it in limp mode.

If however you do not have any loose pipes or cracked boost lines then yes replace your afm. But check the cheap/free stuff first

Lol my mates hopeless :') was asking you guys cause youre more familiar with the skylines than i am!

And will do mate ill check the intercooler piping, etc tomoz after school! And i might aswell buy a z32 afm while im at it or should i just get an original for the time being?

Simple. Fix/Replace AFM first and then you can start diagnosing other problems

And when Hadouken says Z32 = Tune, that also means getting an ECU/Piggyback to enable it to be tuned. You can tune a different AFM into stock computer

solved it today! checked maf sensor and cleaned again and connectors and it worked abit better still shit then checked all hoses and found the one that connects to the top of the turbo came off! mustve been when i floored it down the road for the first time :') still runs a lil rich though but alottttt better than before im guessing my timing could be out considering the motor has only been in for about 2 weeks now so ill get the timing done! cheers guys for the help!!

    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
    • Hey all. I’m looking on replacing my speed sensor on my R33 GTR. Will the center differential need to be drained, and if so, the center diff uses ATF fluid D? I found information on the transmission, front diff and rear diff. Can’t find a for sure answer for the center diff. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
