Hi, I'm looking to purchase an exhaust for my gtt. I've come across the hks high power and silent along with the blitz nur spec r. Does anyone know what exhaust is better sound wise and performance wise? Also do I need any sort of permit for this mod ?

And if I open my boost controller so it'll be at 0 bar and have a control valve after the cat will my exhaust be under 90db?

Will greatly appreciate any help :)

Step 1) Find good local exhaust shop.

Step 2) Engage good local exhaust shop to build you a 3 - 3.5" exhaust with large rear and mid mufflers and large 100 - 200 cell 5" Venom cat or similar.

Step 3) Drive away with knowledge that Steps 1 & 2 have just cost you less than buying Jap exhaust whilst flowing more and probably being just as quiet if not a little quieter.

I do not understand your question about "opening boost controller so it'll be at 0 bar", nor do I understand why you would want a control valve after the cat. Neither of these things make sense, although the latter might be interpreted to be a reference to a dumb arse method of shutting up an exhaust that is too loud.

My system is simply a 3 1/2inch jap system cat back, cost $200 from wrecker then I replaced muffler with a 3inch Xforce and a

100cell cat, so probably all up $700, seemed to flow well enough, stainless too so cheaper than getting it all made up,

ive had the nur spec 4inch muffler which is basically a massive loud cannon piece of crap, and the jap muffler

HKS etc is basically a

restricted crappy cannon that looks fully sick and sounds hektic, so that counts for something lol...

Aren't you affiliated with them? If so you should really point it out when recommending something.

He sure is, should also be paying to advertise his products all the time.

I'm all for his products but there are people who are following the rules and paying to advertise products on here

Which ones did you buy in the end? I have been interested in a HKS hi power silent. Its only a few hundred more than a mild steel custom exhaust.

However, judging from hundreds of opinions, the HKS "silent" exhaust ranges from "can't hear it" to "sets off car alarms at idle". For that reason I haven't been willing to risk the coin on it.

I bought the hks hi power silent second hand from japan. I've also seen thst myself when looking up info about it. When it gets shipped to Perth and installed which won't be for another 8 weeks minimum I'll hook it up to my car and test it properly and upload a video and post the results. Only ones you see on YouTube they barley get the car over 4000 rpm so you can't tell if it's good or not :/

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
