Hey Guys

ive noticed misfiring and or hesitation from my car when planting the accelerator.

this occurs on high RPM range - 4.5 onwards when in low gear, and also occurs on LOW RPM when im on freeway win 5th gear and decide to plant the pedal.

Any ideas?

The car basically "struggles" as if not all pistons are firing.

everything , except for an HKS POD filter, is stock.

i have recently services the car with BCPR6ES 11s thinking the 8s i had in there could have been the problem.

to no avail.

I can try changing the coilpacks i suppose.

but from what ive read, looks like timing, maybe if i adjust CAS?

If it's a bit rough and stuttery, coil packs for sure. Also, if you coil packs are worn then gapping the plugs down to 0.8 will help. There should be no driveability issues with 0.8 gap, everyone does it. Ultimately you're just delaying buying new coil packs though.

HKS pod could be releasing oil onto your airflow meter. get some electronic cleaning solvent (NOT PCB cleaner, just cleaning solvent that says it dries without residue) and hit your airflow meter with it. the hot wire inside the airflow.

if it's smooth (like the car just feel gutless) it could be rich and retard. my car seems to drop timing in the midrange, stock ECU stock everything. go figure. just has a big hole. I'm replacing the ECU at some point so will see if it takes more timing on the dyno.

The bcpr6es 11s you got, the 11 is the gap set out of the box- 1.1mm, you can try closing it to 0.8mm as kinks said.

Everybody does it and seems to work for everyone.

Science tells us that gas is harder to ionize at pressure, hence closing the gap helps.

I had a high RPM breakdown occurring that was caused by faulty CAS: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/326043-resolved-misfire-in-r34-gtt-rb25det-neo/

RB's are awesome (not) in that they can misfire for any number of random reasons, bastard to diagnose.

    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
