Thats still one hell of a figure though - 395AWKW subtract 25 = 370 AWKW on roller dyno - Ide be suprised if GTSS (on pump fuel) made that type of power.

We dynoed the car with Singapore's pumped V-power. 100RON as told by the tuner. Btw that power is obtained by almost maxing out 680cc injectors. Of course it's not gonna run on that boost everyday with the stock rods. :wassup:

We have roller dynos here but they all give different results. I was told by the dyno operator that various factors can affect the results of roller dynos such as how tight the car is strapped down and even the alignment figures. How true was it I don't know. Perhaps someone can explain.

Pictures here.

did anyone take notice of MrNismo's engine specs?

The cengine is running with the following specs:

- 264 IN/EX cams 10mm lift

- P&P head

- 87mm Forged Pistons

- Standard rods & crank

- F-Con V Pro

note that he has oversized pistons (larger engine capacity), higher duration/lift cams and a modified head which would've contributed greatly to this great power result.

given this, obviously the GT-SS would not make the same power on a standard spec RB26.

Also, as mentioned above, the fuel used was 100RON which allows for more enhanced tuning again over what we have availabel with 98RON (if that) fuels.

Also, fyi has anyone looked at the official HKS website for the power/torque results of an RB26 with GT-SS'?

if you look at the web link below, you will see that they managed to extract 422kw (565bhp) @ 7070rpm and 629Nm of torque @ 5150rpm whilst pushing the turbos to 1.4 kg/cm^2 (~20psi).

these are great results and the power curve looks mighty fat, i am not too sure as to what this would equate to at the rear wheels or all 4 wheels.

oh another thing, please note the mods listed below;

* IN & EX cams - 264 degrees (lift ???)

* HKS F-con V Pro

* HKS Racing Suction intake system

* HKS exhsut, muffler, extensions & front pipe

and in addition;

* 2628cc engine capacity

have a nice day :)

Ok I am dragging this back from the dead!!!

As some of you might know, I have a set of these GT-SS turbos going on the car (today!!!) with the following combo....

rebuilt stock engine

tomei poncom cams 260 260 9.15

greddy split dumps

700cc injectors

RB20 AFMS

apexi FC

blitz SBC spec R

and the usual other bits to go along with it all....

is anyone else running these of late? and if so what sort of boost levels are we talking?

I will post some full specs and dyno reports once it is all done!

does anyone else have any dyno sheets with similar mods?

cheers...

We have already posted up our results of 367AWKW on croydon racing developments dyno dynamics dyno in the motorsport section in the post of 11.7sec with GT-ss turbo's.

These are great turbo's and they make good power.

We make 332awkw with out quiet trust exhaust.

and 367awkw with our straight through 4''.

That is extremely elementary physics and flow dynamics, and I'm sure everyone realises that boost is just a measure of engine resistance to airflow.

start a poll and see how many people really understand even elementary physics and flow dynamics! I did physics at uni years ago, but bugger if i can remember it now!

I like Sk's explanations, and i think its good to get things explained in a back-to-basics way, especially when there is so much misconception about boost, power and efficiency floating around.

Usually the first question people ask me on the street about my car is "How much boost is it running!!?" I think that sums up the main misconception about turbo systems!!!

a bit off track, but i dont want SK to get discouraged!

What spec turbine / compressor and housings do these use , I searched HKS but could not find them

Cheers  A .

which site did u go to dude?

i usually go to either of these below for all HKS references;

or

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
