I'm after some infomation, my car was tuned on caltex eflex, will I be able to use united e85 in my car if I ever wanted to, if I was around no eflex, and would it drive and perform as normal? I know caltex say the E% varies from 70-85 and they change it to suit the Seasons of the year, and united % is gaurnteed more, would the difference in e% change the way it performes?

There is no e85 close by, probaly about 30-40 minutes away, but there is eflex one 10 minutes from my house, thats more the reason behind it. Only asking coz there seems to be more and united coming up around the place

I do have flex fuel sensor sniffer what ever you want to call it, the ecu has dual maps from 98 and eflex, so can't use either of them with what ever in the tank, just wasn't sure about e85 because it wasn't tuned on that

What do you mean on how it was tuned? With the fuel maps etc?

Whether the tuner has left left some leeway so that if you do put e85 from e70 and you run half a point leaner it doesnt matter but if it was tuned to its max and now you suddenly run it a point leaner it will affect you. Do you know what your A/F ratio was on the e70 tune?

Oh yer true, umm don't know of the top of my head but I'm thinking that there is leeway there.

It also depends on how Eflex is in the tank and how much E85 you put in, empty tank then fill to top will change the E% more then half tank adding 20l

I don't get this, cause the only way this would be plausible is if you emptied the tank to change from one to the other, contact your tuner and ask if he has setup a flex tune

If tuned for E70 and had to use E85 it's simple to toss ULP in to make it E70 . Its a 15% difference you can work out based on an almost 60L tank . Works out to 2.25L of petrol to every 1/4 tank so 2.25 / 4.5 / 6.75 and 9 litres . I'm sure 3 5 7 and 9 would work fine and if you have a wideband wired it would compensate enough for normal road use .

Just don't bugger it up watching the dollars instead of the litres or carry a clean dry 10L container in the boot .

    • Went to a drift practice day at a local circuit (held on the reserve parking area behind the grandstand) for the first time in about 15 years. Some kei cars were drifting as well, a not so surprising Suzuki Carry truck, and two 1st gen Daihatsu Copens that were converted to rear wheel drive(!) using Daihatsu Boon X4 transfer case, prop shaft and rear diff, obviously omitting the front driveshafts. They looked really fun to slide. I heard that they cost "about half" as much as a Nissan Silvia etc to run.  On the track 'Tech M' a local BMW tuning garage had a customer track day. Mainly recent models but there was one E36 which looked ancient among all the current models. It was cool watching the drifting and then turning around and seeing random people thrashing their M3/4s  central-circuit-drift-practice-2025-05-18-long-yt.mp4
    • I prefer it with those wheels (sacrilege?) 馃構 Here's a photo of a fully original one for reference. The price is $350K....
    • I would like to keep it around 15k but if I need more to make it reliable and not have to worry about the car breaking I can go more. It's my project car so I'm just trying g to figure out what needs to be in it i know basic things like turbo cams injectors I'm just unsure of the size and the specifics so I'm spending alot of time on Google and its mostly rb25 and rb26 not alot on neo
    • This. They would need some tricky maneouvering to keep the income out of the country (the US). Which isn't helpful if that's where you want the income to end up.
