Those of you that have been to one of these before will agree, this is the best money you can spend as far as driving time for an event. The event will be run after run until 4.00pm, and considering most runs are under 1 minute AND that we're kicking off at 9am, that's a lot of runs

This is a safe event where you only go as hard as you want to, there's no pressure, one car on a course at a time. Perfect for beginners to have a first try at driving their pride and joy off the streets.

Motorkhana is a fabulous low cost way to get involved in motorsport. To get involved in Motorkhana you can get your first taste of motor sport in your standard road car, but this discipline also caters to the most skilled and experienced of drivers in highly modified or purpose built Motorkhana specials.

The competition is designed to test the acceleration, braking and manoeuvrability of a vehicle and the skill and judgement of the crew members.

A motorkhana may be conducted on a sealed or unsealed surface and involves manoeuvring through tight and twisty tests marked by flags.

Cars will be started individually and there will be one car on course at one time.

At no time during these events are burnouts, skids or drifting permitted to take place.

With that said, there's usually some friendly competition between mates, which is great to watch :D

I just applied for a CAMS licence online without needing to have previously held one. Register on the front page to receive a CAMS ID (may have to wait for the email) and then use that to login, choose your club (we're listed under ACT, not NSW) and pay for the licence.

Is it no side pipes full stop or no unmuffled side pipes?

Hey Mate, i am pretty sure its just a noise thing, if your side pipe is quieter than the legal Db limit for the event i fail to see an issue...

I would love to get my 32 out after the rebuild, however i might not be in NSW due to work. I wont know until the start of October or maybe a little after. Ok to put my name down, however not pay? Or shall i just put my name down once i know, just didnt want to miss out.

Put your name down when you know for sure. I'll pencil your name as a maybe at the moment.

Please email your entries to [email protected]. Thanks. If you do not pay and there are paying entrants then we will have to bump you. But that hasn't happened for a while.

Also, be sure to get your AASA or CAMS license before hand. We can no longer take entries on the day.

Can a scrutineer, or someone that knows, tell me if this is ok.

Basically the weak plastic tie that holds the pin into my fire extinguisher broke off so I used a rubber band to keep it in (but still allows it to come out when you need to use it).

Theres also a cable tie to stop the top lever going up (the safety pin only stops it from going down ).

It will still function as per normal, just looks a bit iffy.

Thanks

personally id remove the cable tie thats stopping it from going up (it doesnt matter if it goes up as it will only fire on full depress) the rubber band is OK because its easy enough to break in an emergency.. the cable tie is not and even though it wont interfere just the 1% chance it could is enough for me.

as the club scruit I would have to confer with the rest of the team but I would probably land on the same conclusion

I tend to agree with Aggro. Lose the cable tie. The pin is just a safety but having that cable tie over the bit that activates the extinguisher, while probably not a problem could limit the ability to open 100%.

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
