Hey,

I should start off by saying that I am looking at maybe getting a V36. I wanted to ask any V36 owners out there, who have been on a dyno how much power you guys are making?

And if any one has done any modifications ( catback exhaust, intake etc) or tuning (UpRev), how much difference did it make?

I bought my auto V35 350GT coupe from a specialist importer. Compared to all the others I test drove, mine seems to have a noticeable advantage in acceleration over the others.

The car was auction grade 4, other than a grounding kit, tein coilovers with EDFC and the factory powerduct (with K&N panel filter), the car is stock. There seems to be very touchy throttle response, particularly at low rpm. I cannot find out what could be generating the extra power! The dealer seemed to think it was chipped. I checked behind the passengers side panel, and the ECU is stock. Would there be any other way to see if it is chipped?

A friend seems to think it may even have upgraded cams- apparently this is pretty common in Japan as it gives them a bit more low down power and torque.

By comparison, I drove one (not from the importer, but someone who was selling privately) with a kinetix plenum, stillen induction and performance exhaust, and I think mine would leave it in the dust.

I haven't done a standing 0-100 yet, nor had it dyno tested.

Yeah I did a bit of research into grounding kits, and apparently they do wonders, particularly for autos. The thread I found was for a us website, I think it was g35driver.com

Someone asked if they actually do anything and the responses were all overwhelmingly positive.

Still, great car, ant it'll run rings around my old R34

I'm still yet know a person who has installed a grounding kit and had any impact outside auto shift firmness and placebo.

Placebo is a very powerful thing.. I read many many posts about people claiming Strut tower braces had 'significantly reduced' bodyroll. which a STB cannot possibly do.

Grounding kits work for auto boxes due to the bad factory grounding. It helps shift smoother and abit harder. Another thing I noticed was my audio got a tad louder. The guys down at the audio shop said it was the grounding that made it better. Who knows...As to gaining kW....I doubt it.

I dont think it makes it look messy....then again I made sure I hid the wires where I could...looks pretty much stock.

I wouldn't say its in my head, as I didn't know it had a grounding kit until after I bought it.

But it definitely had a definite power advantage over the others I drove, like I said- is there a way I can tell if it is chipped or has aftermarket cams

I think the general sentament is the difference is not the grounding kit. something else has been done to it.. possibly a throttle controller installed which has changed the throttle body response vs pedal position. Could also have had a uprev tune, which uses the stock ECU.

Grounding kits will normally only help if you factory grounds are very poorly designed, or corroded/damaged. The extra grounding from the transmission casing to the engine/battery may help as the auto solenoids probably ground to the transmission casing, and the existing grounds are a source of voltage drop.

Did it accelerate better at full throttle, or did you just notice the throttle pedal response was different?

    • Order for the 2025 model R35 GT-R were accepted from 3rd March and 26th August the last order rolled off the production line at the Tochigi plant. Concerning the R35 GT-R replacement, current Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa said "Nothing has been decided about the GT-R at this time, but we are well aware that everyone is waiting. The GT-R will evolve and reappear in the future. Please be patient until that day comes." Nissan has a lot of issues with management and finances so take Espinosa's words with a big grain of salt. From what discussions I've had and read about here in Japan, not a lot of people are confident about Nissan's future, let alone the next GT-R. 
    • Thanks. We getting some parts along too so he will be solving the speed issue like next week so i will let you know what he came up with.   
    • 21 is explicitly the coils detected as the issue. Is it guaranteed the actual issue? No. Just the ECU thinks it is. When you say rattling, describe it better, get an audio clip as best you can if possible.
    • Yea got me coppers. Bad news is I just put them in and the car still has the light and shakes. I also noticed I hear like rattling coming from the exhaust piping right under me. Does 21 also have a possibility of being O2 sensors?   So, coil packs are good, the harness is good, the MAF is working, and obviously the spark plugs just replaced and working.
    • Make sure you drop the GTT base tune back in, and set your injectors again, this will remove anything playing up with it you may have removed. Possibly lean there as it's normally a fast transient going THROUGH atmospheric pressure, and a turbo motor would then quickly go richer as boost builds. The only worry you MIGHT have is ignition timing, as the DE is higher compression than the DET from memory. But again, you're not in boost, so the DE motor will be a lot more forgiving at atmospheric.   Get Murray, Kinkstahs, and Johnny's input on tuning haltechs, those guys have played with tuning enough in the past to be able to help now you're past the trouble shooting stage of the MAP issue
