rb25debt
I don't really know much about this, but when i hit boost, the gate opens almost instantly and i make no boost. I took off the external gate (unbranded) and realised the top part that has the diaphram in it can spin where it connects to bottom one? Time for a new gate? rb25debt
umm is it me or is that a big ass crack next to the valve seat? i just checked and It doesn't seem to have any cracks, the top bit can spin, im assuming that its not meant to do that? GTSBoy
The "crack" is just a casting mark. I wasn't actually serious about asking for pictures. My comment was more along the lines of.....if the housing spins and you can't see why, it's probably broken enough to throw away. GTSBoy
Probably. Look for missing fasteners. Screws, c clips, pins, whatever. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/449685-external-wastegate-broken/#findComment-7408337 Share on other sites
Dose Pipe Sutututu
try jamming it shut and drive the car gentle towards the boost threshold area and see if the turbo is spooling up... btw, does the car have a proper turbo on it? or is it some dim sim spring roll special with dumplings from eBay? Ben C34
T3/t4 also makes no sense. Look into getting a decent turbo. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/449685-external-wastegate-broken/#findComment-7408448 Share on other sites
2pee
You can test a wastegate easy enough with a pump, you'll have bleed past the valve, but should be lifting off the seat if it's working and the diaphragm is intact.
