I have a rb25det with basic mods, bigger turbo, 7psi external gate. For some reason when it boosts, the intercooler pipe pops off which is connected to the turbo. I got t clamps and it still does it? Is my intercooler blocked, i cant think why this would be happening. thanks guys

Not sure what boost?

lol

so you could be running a bazillion psi and thats your problem?

lol

get some T clamps, they are the way to go, if you cbf taking the turbo off and running a bead of weld around it, then make sure you've got a nice fitment, strong T clamp, and use a proper silicon hose, not some cheap ebay 5 dollary!

well if you drive along and you hit boost and the car pulls harder then your intercooler isnt blocked. in saying that its not "blocked" it might be partially blocked.
but i would have to agree with some of these other guys, cleary your running Fark loads of boost! if its still popping off a t clamp. install boost controller and report back :)

I had the waste gate hooked up wrong, wastegate is now opening but doesn't build much boost and runs like crap. Its a standard rb25det with a chinese t3/t4 type turbo. It is not tuned for the turbo, would this be why. Do you think just putting a standard 25det turbo would be a good idea. thanks guys

Yes.

Not being tuned is the blatantly obvious reason why it runs like crap.

Coupled with crap turbo. And potential damage caused by your mad over boost sessions.

Putting stock turbo back on would make your life very easy.

where do people find these cars... I swear once a week there's a thread from someone buying a car that has a T3/T4 Ling long ebay special, stainless highmount, boost leaking FFP and a standard ECU.... and they're asking us why it runs like shite if at all

For every person we hear from there are probably 20 we don't know about. Eventually they replace all the decent stock parts with fail parts, then sell the car after they realise it's farked.

Those T bolt clamps are crap.

Two norma clamps may hold it to 15psi or so, more than that it needs a lip.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
