Welcome to the second running of the SViRC. The 2015 season will see a few changes while still focusing on safe and fun racing for all.

This year will have much the same format as last years running the included cars and road tracks that come standard with an iRacing membership but with 3 added rounds using Aussie cars and circuits.

The Aussie rounds will consist of the Ford and Holden racing cars along with the Phillip Island and Mount Panorama and Oran Park race tracks. While these rounds will not count towards overall series points they should be a welcome high paced change throughout the season.

The rest of the races in the series will use a point system like that of F1.

Positions 1 through 10 awarded 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1 points. Remaining positions awarded 0 points.

Race format is same as last year with -

Practice (50mins) – Qualifying (10mins) – Race 20 laps (approx. 30-35mins)

Cars -

Mazda MX5 Cup, Mazda MX5 Roadster, Pontiac Solstice and the Ford spec Racer.

(Aussie Rounds) - Ford Falcon FG V8, Holden Commodore VF V8

Tracks -

Lime Rock Park (USA), Okayama (JAP), Laguna Seca (USA) and Summit Point (USA), Charlotte (USA)

(Aussie Rounds) - Phillip Island, Mount Panorama, Oran Park

To join the ‘SAU Vic iRacing Championship’ head over to www.iRacing.com then search the league directory for the ‘SAU Vic iRacing Championship’ and click on the ‘join’ button. Membership to the site is very affordable and much cheaper than panel beating or a new gearbox! There will also be trophies for the top drivers 3 at series end.

So get ready for an action packed year in the SViRC!

See you on the track! :)

How is iRacing to play with a keyboard? Will I get brained by peeps with steering wheels?

Can only play iRacing with steering wheel or at the least a gamepad, and even then a gamepad is very hard to use against people with a steering wheel. Best bet would be to grab a wheel from a pawn shop for like $20 or so and see if its your thing and you have a bit of fun. I started with one from Cashies years ago and some of the best iRacing drivers still use older wheels, Either way well worth it and hope to see you on track :)

Will we be running fixed setups? To make the field even so that the people that have not got a

lot of experience more of a chance.

it will be fixed setups like last year yes :)

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to commit as much as I'd like to, like the latter half of last championship. But put me down and I'll come race when I'm around. Thanks Tony!

7th January – Test Round – Charlotte Motor Speedway (USA)

Tonight is the first time on track for the 2015 SViRC, practice is from 8pm from 50mins followed by a 10min qualifying session then onto a 20lap race. This round is primarily about having fun, getting back into the swing of online racing and to allow others time to join before the first round with points next month. If you took part last year you will still be on the list of drivers. If you are a new comer to the series head over to http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/LeagueView.do?league=1089 and join the league. See you on track tonight :)

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
