Duncan
Enter the conspiracy theorist... not at all. the cams motorkhana handbook (which we have a copy of BTW) specifies the approved courses and their exact layout and sizes. I saw the guys out with measuring wheels making sure it was all good. If we want our club members to be better prepared for proper khanas we should be using at least some of the courses so people can be familiar The organisers (RTDC) were very professional and worked hard all day, and I don't think we can complain as a club if one event out of a series isn't perfect for us to win! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452732-nulon-nationals-2015-round-1-smsp/page/4/#findComment-7465360 Share on other sites
Pezhead
I agree with Duncan and Nick. The purpose of having diversity in motoring events is to showcase the strengths and skills required. Even though the courses weren't "fun" like our Texikhana courses, they were challenging. It challenged me to really work my driving skills and to strategise where my car's strengths and weaknesses are in competition at this type of event. I would have actually thought the honda club cars would have done better. The S2000 was a good performer. I just think a lot of them hadn't done this type of event before. The SAU execs have reviewed the CAMS handbook in the past. We have specifically worked with AASA and our own designed courses to ensure that we have course layouts that are better suited to larger and heavier cars. The fact that the SAU Texi is different from CAMS sanctioned motorkhana is on purpose. Of course look at Reece the NSW State Motorkhana champ. He has come to numerous Texi's and is always a top competitor at ours too. So those that want the competition and looking for more technical driving challenge should look into the NSW motorkhana championship and RDTC rounds. Also agree that RDTC did a stellar job in running the round. 8 courses, bonus "fun" round and 50 cars is no small feat! timmy_89
I agree with the above as well. The courses were measured out as per CAMS specifications. The idea of the event was to give an advantage to the smaller vehicles but that was just by following the rules of this specific type event. Other CAMS motorkhanas I've seen have run some of these same courses, there is a large list to choose from. RTDC did extremely well to get through so many cars and on so many tracks, I was amazed at how much track time we got, much better than other motorkhanas I've driven at personally!! PN-Mad
Oh no, Eric!? You must have belted a heap of cones in the last last round!!?? Lol. You dropped like 10 places on that final round. PN-Mad
The full spreadsheet might give you an insight if it was a wrong direction or cone penalties. I don't remember you smashing three or four cones, so, might have missed a loop. I did see lots of people doing the second loop incorrectly. PN-Mad
Well, that's all correct direction, and no cones down from what I can see. It appears, sir, you have been duped! timmy_89
Eric you should contact Chris and send him the link to that video and see if a correction can be made. Your correction could potentially put us in front of EvoOz and make us 4th not 5th overall. Dawzey
HI guys, just to clear a few things up, we designed these courses to be hard for you guys on purpose.. It was either that or put classes in place, (under 2L over 2L AWD RWD and so on) we had a big gap between SAU, EVO OZ and the MX-5 and 86 clubs last year, so what we did was add a Gymkhana round into the series to give the MX-5 and 86 cars a chance to score some good points before you blow them away on the drag strip and hillclimb (not as much) Some of you may not like it, but it worked, Coming in second and third right now are the cars that will come in last and second last at the drag strip. This is a much better way to level out the field as the last thing i wanted was to have to put classes in place. As far as Eric`s run, we are looking back at the paper time sheets now (might be after work for some) to see what happened, we had 2 different timers on the day so i will personally look at both sheets to see what the story is. Sorry for the mix up and i will get to the bottom of it within 24 hours, i have complete faith in the Club that ran the event and just so everybody is clear, the timers that were recording the runs were not from any of the clubs, they were paid employees with no ties to anyone. (except they all love evos so watch out) My memory is not good at the best of times but the video Eric posted looks alot like a course i drove, yet i didnt drive course 8. i am more wrong than right when it comes to this stuff though. will let you know what i find tomorrow. Glad people enjoyed the event, Bring on round 2 3 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452732-nulon-nationals-2015-round-1-smsp/page/4/#findComment-7468927 Share on other sites
Duncan
haha it's not serious motorsport until someone is unhappy with the results great to see the passion for winning. and I totally understand and agree Chris, great to see something hard for us. bring on next round 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/452732-nulon-nationals-2015-round-1-smsp/page/4/#findComment-7468937 Share on other sites
Pezhead
Thanks for checking in Chris. I agree about adding the diversity and challenge for us and the Evos. Also the RDTC guys did a stellar job in running the event. Thanks for looking into my time and video.
