still trying to work out the vin.
its not a nismo but comes with an amazing amount of nismo genuine parts. skirts, vents, lights, lips dash. which SEEM to have come standard.
even the wiperless rear window is vin confirmed.
but alas as far as i can confirm its not a ... vin confirmable special edition.

noone has so far been able to decode the last 3 vin digits properly though. fast has been no help without speaking jap.

theres nothing to say that some bits could not have been fitted afterwards though?

you have to remember these cars arent anywhere near new and there has been up to 25 years of people messing with it. its a bit of a lucky dip on what you end up owning.

At the end of the day you have a nice car with some nice OEM parts.

very true. so far my lucky dip searching hasnt brought up any real scary things.
im more interested in the last 3 digits to simply know what they are, just too much conflicting info across different forums.

it seems the door skins are not original as my car (we think) came out with the heated mirrors but i have controller, but i have spare door trims which already suggests this.

how do i work out if the original heated mirrors are still attached, any easy way apart from taking the glass off and opening it all up to find the element? im assuming there will be extra wiring.
if so i will hunt down the proper switches, but to be honest i have so many other things to take care of and put money and time towards first.

still havnt done my timing belt or high idle
still need to work out how far to go with the paint respray
still need tires badly
STILL need to do my bushes.

holidays coming up :)

i have fixed a few issues on my alarm which includes reinstating the neutral switch so my remote start don't propel the car driver-less into a wall.
it seems my neutral switch is sticking in gear, where would i look to free this up, how would i go about freeing it up? is it simply a mechanical/ WD40 job or?

I found this diagram it shows the neutral switch in the side of the gearbox. I would remove it and check it with a multi meter.

Nice car BTW.

Hope to see you out in it for the Adelaide GTR cruises held monthly. Next one 1st March

ok so the nismo dash has been bugging me since i started cleaning the gtr.
the gauge lights have been replaced at some point but for some reason not all of them were replaced. so i have some yellow and some blueish white sections of the dials.

20150131_215219_zpszpsqjoio.jpg

on top of that the clear plastic is really dirty. it cannot be cleaned as the old....what looks like condensation, has marked the plastic and is on the back/ inside of the plastic. so out they all come.

20150209_130139_zpsftz11jqj.jpg

the bluish white dials are currently using these. which were probably all that was available back in the day. luckily now we have wide spread cluster LEDS :)

this is a good shot of how bad the plastic was... i can tell you, when you look at it everyday it really gets on your nerves.

20150209_130947_zpsnpuyme3t.jpg

also im amazed that the plastic just pops off these little clips and its out. no wonder the odos gets haircuts more than i do.

20150209_132502_zpsfe5v8imt.jpg

so i tried the usual windex and cleaners which did absolutely nothing

20150209_132629_zpszdyshjvi.jpg

as i have owned a 34 before, i obviously had headlight polish, so gave it a good go and it came up crystal clear.

this is what it looks like now with the plastic back on..... soooo clear

20150209_140404_zpsrt9h2gue.jpg

compared to, how i got it.
20150120_154849_zpsdzye16gm.jpg

now all bright and and even white with the new leds in.

honestly, i would feel uncomfortable if i pulled something apart and did not end up with a left over screw.

Hey mate. curious as too how your needles are so Bright. i know in all my R33s ive owned and ive put LEDS in all of them bright ones too. yet the dial needles seem to be dark as at night time and not illuminated like yours. any tips??? or do the r32 cluster have a led right on the needle?

got bored today so poped down to the shops and picked up some plastidip.

the (not so well) painted front lip dosnt look right to me but i still havnt decided fully if it should stay painted or if i should go back to the factory matt. thats what i love about plasti dip, dont like it its not permanent :)

unsure on the colour i picked up matt gunmetal grey which when sprayed looked like this, (tester spray)
miles off. so i went back to flat black.

first coat filled imperfections less than i thought (being rubber) so i have gone several coats, as thick as it would let me without running. hopefully it will act as a sort of light stone protectant while its there.

Coat one..

anyway looks better imo, what do you think?

im also interested to see how it stands up to general road shit and more importantly, cleaning afterwards as its still a daily afterall.

bth if the matt look grows on me i will either get it painted or maby look at a cf option.

Personally I think cf is so over rated but you have to try different things to see how u actually like them and if they grow on you or not. I think slowmedown has the look of his gunmetal gtr right and from memory it's the factory finish. I actually like both the colour marched look and the factory finish/oem/raw finish. I think the best thing about not painting the lip is if or should I say when you do scratch it it's not obvious as dogs balls and doesn't catch you eye.

I'm fitting a gtr bar to my gtst and am going for the colour matched option to start with
