To me they go crazy, full boost is as 4k rpm, they are running just past 17psi. Engine isn't built but does have cams - it also helps that Racepace has been servicing it since it was imported (2008).

Well today was first time I took it to red line, safe to say legs were shaking for hours later because of the adrenalin haha.

One thing im trying to figure out is the space between the window seal (think thats where the window deflector goes?) there is a gap is that normal and safe if its raining? Been trying to search the forums with no luck

Yea when i picked up the car from Racepace it has potential to do a lot more, just needs a tune. But think this is plenty for many months to come haha

I see and yes cams do help.

First time red line is always a good experience Haha!

Got a photo of the space between the window? I'd say it's normal like what Hadouken said... As long as the window goes all the way up.

Yeah Racepace will do you well, they know the Power FC really well and should re-tune it up nicely for you.

When I get home ill take a photo for you to have a look. The window seals are fine and window goes up. This is where the window seal connects to the roof of the car (think thats where the window deflector should come in)

With 356kw at all fours thats plenty for a while to come, don't think she will be needing anything more haha

Yeah nice one.

Ok sure, will wait for the photo and have a look.

I remember seeing a thread about this but after hours of searching I can't find it. I'm presuming its safe as any water that comes through will run down by the doors? But still not sure - any tips would help out.

Car is going great, I guess Ill start a thread and keep people updated with the small things I do. But first things first

For it's age, it can happen... I'd say the seal has just bubbled up due to the heat / sun.

Worst case, just re-order the rubber strip and replace it.

Nice custom plates, I'd assume M = Milan and BR34 = BNR34.

Ah ok, would you have any idea what that part is called?

Spot on on the plates haha

So the part is called the "Weather Strip Retainer".

I believe this is the part, however there are two and I'm not sure if it just the metal bracket, or do you get the metal bracket and the black seal on top:

http://www.rhdjapan.com/nissan-oem-right-side-weather-strip-retainer-r34-2dr.html

The biggest problem I have is that I can't see what actually comes with that item.

Does anybody have a company where they can order their oem parts from?

Thanks Odium,

Im trying to fix her up slowly bit by bit. Just need to make sure that this is the correct part as that came up at AUD434 which is quite pricey. Also I think that is just the front retainer - there is also the rear.

Any chance somebody knows what the actual rubber piece number is?

'll take some more photos so people understand what I'm talking about.

Wonder if there are any Nissan Dealerships which can order the parts for you? hmm

Just a quick note I've searched everywhere on the forums and there is no mention of the part for the 34Gtr, just the 32 as they have a clip on. Where as the 34 has screws that hold the bracket up together with the plasic.

First link is for the Left Hand Side.

Second link is for the Right Hand Side.

You could order it for Nissan AUS or just ask Racepace as they can easily source parts.

Thanks mate,

Will be posting things I do to this car bit by bit. She is in good shape, just needs that little bit of extra bits and pieces but its only cosmetics no rush I guess.

Will be sure to pop down the next SAU meet

  • 4 weeks later...
  • 1 month later...

Just to give an update on the current status of the GTR.

I have to admit its probably one of the best decision I've ever made in my life. Its very fun to drive but what is especially interesting is when people are giving you the look "cmon man.......punch it please".

Car is very healthy so no real modifications were done since I got it. Ill post some pictures so you can see the before and after.

Fixed/Replaced:

- MDF Screen (had to do a lot of precise peeling but came out like new - thanks to whoever made the tutorial on here)

- Installed an Aus stereo and made the wiring nice and neat behind the dash

- Removed the nismo tie rods and camber arms as they arent adjustable, replaced with cusco so car goes 100% straight (was pulling very slightly to the left)

- Have a friend who does detailing who polished off the headlights, really good job. Will be detailing the rest of the car in a few weeks

Apart from that its very enjoyable to ride things I need to get are:

- Side skirts and rear pods, have a really good deal which are made up for fibreglass will be buying them on wednesday as its so hard to find oem

- Detail the car

- Perhaps swap over my bronze 19" te37 with a pair of 18"

- Swap exhaust for something a little bit quieter as this is very loud as its a 3.5" straight through, kinda needed for the 360atw tune (its a kakimoto)

    • What type of track driving will you be doing?  Do you have a set of class rules you need to abide by that will limit your rim / tyre width?
    • I've been reading a lot lately about unsprung weight and how beneficial it can be to reduce it for driving on the track, given my semi's only have another day or two in them I am throwing around the idea of some lighter wheels and a square set up. I have 265/35/19's and 245/40(?)/19 Federal 595's at the moment. The wheels and tyres are super heavy. I looked up my wheel weight online and got 14.5kg naked. Not sure if this was 8.5 (front) or 9 (rear) but that's a lot. I have also been reading about the benefits of a square setup. Much better rotation and potentially less understeer.  When I throw these together I'm thinking about a 17x9 or 18x9 square (preferably under 10kgs per wheel) with 245 or 255's. I can get some cheap 17x8.5 BMW M Sport wheels, they weight 10.5 kg's each but at 8.5 wide could probably only get 245's on them? I know they come with 255's from factory but semi's are a bit chunkier. Otherwise it will be aftermarket wheels in a 9" width. Most of the other BMW wheels are heavy unless you pay a squillion dollars for some M wheels.  Although, the E46 M3 Style 67's could be good but I'd have to buy 2 sets to square them up.  My car has a tickle over 400hp and about to put an LSD in also, is 245 a little thin for a square setup? It kinda feels that way to me. Also, is there any tangible benefit to having 18's over 17's? Is the footprint demonstrably bigger? From those of you who went to light(er) wheels after heavy buggers, did you notice it much?
    • Start with the R32 GTR wiring diagram. The ECU is essentially the same, so the pinouts are good. The details around ECCS relays, etc might differ a little bit, but the reality is that you need to get ignition power to kick the ECU so it powers up the ECCS relay which brings the rest of the ECU up. This also gives power to the other circuits that are needed to make the engine run, like the ignition coils, etc. All of this is visible on the R32 diagram and should give you a strong guide, even if it's not quite the same as the R33. As to specifics - I'm pretty sure no-one can help you from afar, as there is no way to know what mistake or omission has been made in connecting stuff up. It always turns out to be "LOL, I shorted something and an entire wire vanished out of the loom", or "We never connected X or Y main connector", or "shit, you mean I need to have that fuse installed?".
    • hello wanted some insight on what my problem could be so i swapped a RB26DETT into my r33 gtst used a R33 GTR engine harness and im using a haltech platinum pro. The car cranks but no start the ecu isn’t getting any power now im trying to find out why i cant seem to find any schematics  or diagram for the engine harness for the r33 gtr anything helps thank you.
    • hahahaa @GTSBoy that is my last resort. Like use a cardboard and cut it using the indicator as a reference. But I was winging my luck to see anyone had a spare bumper because drawing the outline off the hole is always easier and less chance of mucking it up
