Showed the missus the BMW, she didn't hate it lol

Her comment was "all you've talked about since selling your GTR was getting another GTR. If you buy something else you're going to come back to this again, just wait for a silver 33 or 34 to come along (33 is her preference) and buy it. In the meantime shut up about it, this has been going on for weeks"

Lol

For me i see plenty of cars go past. Evo, rexi, S15, S14, BMW, C63 ect ect

Nothing brings that tingley excitement on like a R33 GTR cruising past.

Closest thing to the feeling of xmas as kid as werid as that may sound.

This. Evos etc are nice and all, but nothing will make me double take like a tough 33.

Saw a clean 33R drive past me the other day. I said to myself, Wow, I actually really dig the size and fatness of it. Really stood out and didn't seem to dated at all compared to the other cars on the road.

Previous to owning the 34R i had the following

Evo 7

R34 GTT

S14

SSS Bluebird SR20

34R is so far the only car that I have not gotten bored of. Ever.

Can relate to this, when I see a clean 33GTR on the road, nothing makes me do the "Yeah........ look at that......." like them. I love how tough and wide they look.

Ended up buying a 1M, couldn't let go of the GTR, now the 1M's the daily.

I agree the GTR's are getting old, but you only really feel it in the interior. The 34 is the best of them in that respect obviously.

I've driven the new STI and been in the Evo 10, and my standard 34 with an exhaust and the boost restrictor removed is quicker than them both. Also, I think it was Powertune who put the new STI on a dyno and it made around 170-180kw. I had my 34 on a dyno recently and it made 200kw with only the mods listed above (~12 PSI).

Not to mention, very few people look twice when an STI or Evo 10 drives past... I can't drive or park my 34 anywhere without getting some form of attention. I can see how it would be annoying if you were to daily it, but it's a cool feeling owning a car you rarely see on the road. As a few people have said to me, anyone can walk into a dealer and take home an Rex or an Evo.

You made the right choice and you've got a relatively exclusive car. Enjoy :)

I can't wait to get the missing body pieces in place and a few things painted, it will turn my head that's for sure. Could care less what others think :)

Goombeh; I would love to hear your expirences with the 1M. As I am right now in the process of making that decision vs keeping 34r

J, 1M is unbelievably. I wanted an E46M3, but couldn't love it, so decided on an E92 M3, still didn't. Drove many of them and just couldn't get into them, drove the 1M by chance and 5 minutes in, was wondering if they'd give me a discount if I put a deposit on the day. It was that good.

It has a face only a mother could love, but on the road it's a monster. Breaks traction all the way to third and if you just want to potter, it'll do that too. So for me it was the perfect car just to get around in, but hit a fast mountain pass, and it's vicious and incredibly entertaining. And it feels Old school raw... properly raw.

If you're seriously considering one, take one for a drive if possible, and I dare you to not buy it. If you want any more info, happy to have a chat.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
