iruvyouskyrine
This thread is a train wreck. I approve. Pics of RB20 coilpack setup. Pics of compo received for the time (4 hours) it took to take maybe 10 bolts, some plugs and replace 6 spark plugs. IM-32-FK
f**k YES i figured it out and it was the MOST STUPID REASON WHY!!! YOU WILL NEVER GUESS... are you ready....? ONE OF THE f**kING SPARK PLUGS WERE CRACKED INSIDE THE CHAMBER BECAUSE I MUST OF OVER TIGHTENED IT!!! REALLY?? AND GUESS WHAT, as i was putting one of the new spark plugs in, I ALSO CRACKED ONE. So i put one of my old spark plugs from before i did the service back in. So tomorrow im gonna have to go buy one more spark plugs f**k me im stupid, who would of thought tightening these spark plugs would make the white part crack?? seriously i wasted $50(coilpacks) + $60(coilpack loom) + $35(new set of spark plugs)+ the time spent travelling and the labour. Learn this lesson from me, NEVER overtighten ANYTHING! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460562-another-coilpack-issue/page/3/#findComment-7627695 Share on other sites

GTRPSI
You didnt crack it from overtighting it, you cracked it because you didnt hold the socket straight at some point while tightening. If your holding the spark plug properly and tighten hard enough you will strip the threads in the head and the porcelain part will still be fine. . 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460562-another-coilpack-issue/page/3/#findComment-7627703 Share on other sites

I got up to the third cylinder before i cracked it. I hope i didnt over tighten the first 2 cylinders... GTRPSI
When putting new plugs in, bottom the plug out in the hole by hand with a extension, then tighten 2/3 to 3/4 (max) of a turn extra. So run them in till they reach the end, then tighten the last 2/3-3/4 turn more. Just use your left hands fingers to keep the extension centered while the right hand turns the extension. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460562-another-coilpack-issue/page/3/#findComment-7627720 Share on other sites

hardsteppa
i'm pretty sure some awesome dude who knows heaps about european porn...I mean, cars...said "spark plugs don't like being dropped. A cracked ceramic insulator can cause ignition issues" spark plugs are one of the few things I use a torque wrench for, would suggest you do the same until you get the feel for them, or follow gtrpsi's guide above. hardsteppa
i'll also just say, I like your attitude, seriously. You were prepared to have a go at it...ok, f*ked it up, but, acknowledged your mistake and have learnt something in the process. As long as no major damage caused, not a bad result at all. Although, I you're seriously concerned bits of ceramic fell in the cylinder and you haven't run the car yet, pull out the plug and use a vacuum hard up against the hole, vacuum out any bits of insulator in there.
