Damien2
Not sure if in right section but here goes...This is one for the gurus. I Just finished my build on an R33 gst with 825rwhp and looking for a mid 9sec pass. I'm looking for advice on rim size and offset with the biggest full drag slick that I may fit to the rear with standard brakes. Keeping in mind I dont want to downsize the brakes also. For the front, i have R33 gtr brembos and need to know what front runners i can fit. I'm looking to do it the most cost effective way. Any help would be greaty appreciated. Duncan
Well I'm no good for wheel size for drag use, but if you are running 33 brembos you will need at least a 17" wheel. Assuming you know how much stopping you need, I would expect anything down to R32 gtst 280mm setup should bolt up and may let you get away with 15" wheels Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460818-wheel-and-tyre-setup-advice-for-9sec-quater/#findComment-7632770 Share on other sites
Damien2
Thanks for taking the time to reply... I'm aware i need 17in or larger on the front but just not sure which wheels and offset in order to clear the calipers. It's not only the offset but the design of the wheel as well. The wheel can have the right offset but the design of the spoke can be super flush. And as for brakes, i dont want to downgrade at all because with the power im running, i want to be able to slow up fast. niZmO_Man
What about the space savers for the front? Don't have much contact patch on the front tyres though. GTSBoy
Space savers are persona non grata at the drag strip. Certainly on a bloody 9 second attempt! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460818-wheel-and-tyre-setup-advice-for-9sec-quater/#findComment-7633287 Share on other sites
djr81
Be fine as long as you don't go over 80km/h. 3 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460818-wheel-and-tyre-setup-advice-for-9sec-quater/#findComment-7633360 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Actually you might be able to argue that a full track wheelstand would be OK too. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/460818-wheel-and-tyre-setup-advice-for-9sec-quater/#findComment-7633372 Share on other sites
