Roy, I don't see Lakeside in the list mate... maybe worth adding it as there's a few getting out there now?

I'll post my time here from last Sunday at the sprint round (and await EvoCam to come and humiliate me).

It might be interesting to collate some times on the track as it stands in comparison for a later date when the track is re-surfaced?

It will be an honour system as proving lap times is rather difficult, so i ask that you are honest. As a minimum laps should be hand timed by a spectator or third party. And please bear in mind that others may be spending considerable amounts of money on the content of the posts :D

Timed with a lap timer and I did numerous 1:08's, even ran a 1:09.09 after it started sleeting.

Havent seen many NA times.. so I thought I might kick off a benchmark..

Yeah it's great Roy. I've been out twice in less than a week and done over 100 laps :P

Already have my entry in for next month too.

I know you love "raw" cars, I was stoked to get a steer of a mate's '68 XT GT Group Nc car on Friday. Great fun, and a Windsor that loves it at 7500.... just great fun!

my entry is going in for next month very shortly Ben. The Datto is coming out for a play! :P

Great news Harry! I've got my entry in, Chrisso's got the XT in again, and Johnno's bringin his 32 GTR again. Hopefully another top day!

They spiced it up a little Friday for an hour or so. They ran a quick time trial from the tower, up around to turn left into the Bus Stop, through there then U turn and back around to stop in a garage back at the tower. I'd never run that way before.... Carousel is very wierd going that way. I think I had the "off of the day" trying for a hot line into the Bus Stop.... didn't pull it off. LOL

my entry is going in for next month very shortly Ben. The Datto is coming out for a play! :O

Hey Harry. Just remebered that I didn't tell you I got pinged for noise on both days. My car is not what anyone would call noisy either! :P

The official sound max is now 95db at peak (they were giving us to 99db on the strait). Mine was going 102 so I had to short shift to fifth before the tower but then they moved up the the bus stop and I triggered it there to in 4th :O I need to organise a new system now.

Just thought I'd advise you incase your Datto has a note.

Thanks Ben. I'm getting an exhaust done in the coming weeks. It currently has an open sidepipe :O Not sure that would pass! Picking up a new intercooler and mounting it this weekend, then off to the muffler shop to try and quieten it down and do the pipework for the new intercooler location. But I'm a bit worried because there's not a huge amount of room underneath for mufflers... I found their static tests on their website so at least I can get the exhaust shop to test to those specs. The drive by test is the worry. Think I'll bring the Supra out as well just in case I get pinged!

I assume they always stay on the inside of the track for their drive by testing?

Yeah thats right mate, inside :O I know what you're thinking.... but I'm trying to stay within the rules for the futures sake.

I saw them just before the pit exit, tower, peak of hill before the bustop, and under dunlop. I passed the static fine, but 7k odd past the tower in 4th was well over. 5th cured it there but no way can I use 5th around the back.

As you know there was other cars that sounded heaps louder to the ear but passed ok. The westerly wind that was blowing hard last time wouldn't have helped I don't reckon either.

It might be a moot point anyway - QR actually called me yesterday about my entry. They're extremely worried about having an unregistered car at this event. I'm sure I've seen other unregistered cars there with stripped out interiors and cages???

I think I convinced him its "registerable" like it says on the website (it is fully engineered in NSW) and that I was getting an exhaust shop to test it to the 2 static noise tests described on their website, so finger's crossed! But I'll definitely bring the Supra out too because I'm expecting them to take one look at it and tell me to go away...

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
