I drove a Porsche GT4

And I loved it.

Holy smokes this car was amazing. I only had a small amount of time so I couldn't get it out of the city but it was so easy to drive it was still impressive at low speeds.

I don't think I got it into any gear above 3rd. This is partially because it sounded so amazing at 3 - 4k that cruising in 3rd was making me drool a little. The noise was just insane. Shifting down, despite it being a classic clutch activated shift, the car still revved up to match the gear. This took a little getting used to but after you did, it was quite welcome.

The interior was still very well equipped. I wasn't expecting much in the cabin, especially as though the doors have no inside handles, only straps (interesting given no other obvious interior weight loss or simplification.) The gauges were gorgeous and the rightmost "gauge" was a screen showing any of the computer data or the navigation.

The centre console was beautiful with a nice and responsive centre screen. Behind the gear knob were switches for ECS, Sport, Suspension settings and the exhaust butterfly (which I left open.) With the car in a 'normal' mode it is very comfortable and civilised. The seats are really low and quite difficult to get out of when you're as tall as I am. The alcantara steering wheel was just beautiful and contained no steering wheel mounted controls or buttons.

The shifter was very short which was nice, but it took me a long time to find reverse on the first few attempts. It is up to the left of first, but the channel to get it over there was very narrow and difficult to find. After a few attempts it became increasingly easy to find so maybe I just needed some practice.

But, as I am quite the brake-o-phile, I couldn't stop looking at them. Just look at them!!!

See the rest of my pics here;

Here's a little driving video so you can hear it. If you just want the sound, watch from 1:00 onward.

What do you think? Does this float your boat?

Big ticket item now...........

New they are best part of $250,000,00.

Bob.

I just didn't get the price on it. It didn't strike me as a quarter-of-a-million-dollar car. $150k, yeah maybe, at a stretch, but no more than that.

Awesome. I have a soft spot for Porches especially the GT cars. It looks like it would have been super fun.

I get your brake enthusiasm, I have a real thing about car exhaust sounds, if I ever find myself with a spare few million I will be buying my garage based on the quality of the noise they make! (think LFA, Carrera GT, F458, E60 M5 so on, so on)

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
    • Hey mate, really appreciate the help. Have been looking pretty extensively myself and was certain they were retro fitted, but then ended up finding a 4 door with what looks like the same side skirts or at least the closest I’ve seen.
