Sparks...

Would need a substantial current draw in the car to make a bunch of sparks. Obvs to now test resistance to ground of the car's B+ lead. If there's a short there, you'll see it. Only likely place for that, as you suspect is alternator. But there is also the possibility that rats have had a chew on some insulation. Shitbox has the battery in the boot, yeah? Plenty of cable to attack.

Sigh... yeah OEM mount rear battery, very R33, very demure, very mindful.

Lolololol maybe, man I hate this car.

Lapsed judgement a respray and a new motor, when I should have just scrapped the lot when I had the chance.

Farken.

Actually, I'd argue that that is exactly when having the wastegate/scroll isolation correct would show the most benefit.

Of course it would be - But you shouldn't be here.

Hey, it's me!

Though honestly, if I had 20M in my bank account tomorrow, I would not want to be rid of my car all of the sudden - Which makes me think this is money stuff, not "I actually hate car" stuff. I'd probably double down and buy even more trinkets and fun things for it.

If this is not you, then sell it cheaper. It will sell at a certain price after all.

Like a big hood scoop, and massive whiney boy supercharger?

Think he'll sell it to me at my offer above? I could probably get it to $75 if he needs a little more convincing 😛

15a? Crikey

It was $7 more than the 10A - as an Asian, I see value. Dollar per A lol

5A - $113 - $22.60 per A
10A - $189 - $18.90 per A
15A - $196 - $13.06 per A

Sure the maths stacks up, however does the use case? maybe not - however I wish to purchase a boat in the future.

So.... here's one for @GTSBoy .....

I plugged up the battery in the boot, to my surprise no sparks, no shorts, alarm went off, dome light on, etc. tried to crank the car, motor rotated a few times. Battery is pretty flat so will need more juice before I try to start it.

With the battery plugged up at the back, when you pop a volt meter across the chassis and the jump point, you get a nice 12V, no issue.

However, when you disconnect the battery at the rear, you straight up get a short.

My broscience is thinking there's some issue with the rectifier, dead diodes perhaps?

Also your meter is showing not a dead short, but a 40ohm resistance if I'm reading that right.

On a 12V load you would be seeing a 300mA constant draw. Enough to kill a battery in a couple of days easily, not enough to cause sparks and things to glow red hot.

It beeped, confirming continuity. If it didn't, no issues.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
