I bought some 2nd hand wheels with RSRRs that were too damn wide for my car - Federals run wide to begin with so 255 was out of the question without cutting arches.

Note -- I'm currently selling the surplus RSRRs if you're after some cheap semis, check classifieds forum

In the end I opted to not cut parts off my chassis and decided to get RS3s as I drive around town on weekends and found a great deal (possibly due to the imminent release of RS4s, expect to see reviews for those from the states soon). Honestly they're not quiet at all and the wet handling isn't on par with the RE003s I had on before. But the RS3s grip so much better once warmed up (less so when cold) and the sidewalls are way stiffer - the front end feels so much more pointy. So just in normal driving the car handles a lot nicer.

If I could be bothered buying separate track wheels and tyres I'd probably have RE003s or similar for street and then dedicated semis such as RSRRs, or perhaps z221s or something, but all in all the RS3s are a great compromise

Sorry to say but rsrr are not a dedicated semi.

They are just a very sticky street tyre like the rs3 anf ad08r.

agreed.

I just can't get all the rave reviews on the RS3's; don't get me wrong, i thought they were good dry grip, but sidewalls did feel on the soft side. Didn't NOT rate them but kind of like, i was expecting a tyre that would blow my previous tyres away, and they didn't really. Just IMO.

I feel that Invo's set a pretty high benchmark - in terms of their being a lot cheaper, awesome in the wet, and I found them extremely good in the dry too. That's not saying they're *better* than rs3's or ad08's, but my point is they set the bar high across a few levels and the others haven't then smashed them. Although I will add, not like I test tyres back to back in one day, so, that would be the real test obviously.

Interesting.

I would say the rr and rs3 are miles ahead of the invo.

But like you said. Bang for buck and quiet on the road. Invos emoji106.png

Agreed, INVO is no where near the likes of a RS-3.

The only competition in the Nitto range to the RS-3 are the NT05, however they also need a fair whack of heat before they can perform

Fair enough about RSRRs not actually being semis. I thought they'd be equivalent to entry-level semis, but apparently that isn't the case? From all accounts they're not ideal as street performance tyres either, so in the end I wonder what the advantage is over proper R comps, or even over RS3s if they're in the same category?

bonus of the RSR's is they are CHEAP i get them at $160 a corner for 265/35 18's.... For that price i find it hard to justify a better tyre for what effectively is a street weeekend car that i don't really drive in the wet. Interesting to see what i do when the RSR's i have wear, and i need to find a replacement. A work mate of mine had RSRR's on his WRX are they wore eye wateringly quickly, like within 6 months of street driving. Now granted he has a very heavy right foot but i wasn't overly impressed that after 1 month, they had 20c piece chunks missing.... Realistically though i can't justify going up the price bracket, i don't drive the car often enough, the tyres will go hard before i wear them.

I'd be going PS4's on a proper street car (daily). I will be putting them on the cube if i can get them in the correct size for the new rims.

Keep the cheap Chinese tyres or replace with some $90 rotalla's.

You'll love the road noise, the ability to smoke all 4 (giving you the illusion the car has twice the power)

And they don't break the bank.

Cheap, don't scrub, corner somewhat well lol and somehow at the drags I was getting some pretty good 60fts lol.

I have had them for 6 years ever since I bought the car.

I am looking at a rim change, just dont have the $$ at the moment.

Fair enough. personally i can't stand shitty tyres that spin with 25% throttle in wet weather. Id rather just pay the extra for the added performance and peace of mind.
Then again i only have a gtst so much less grip than your gtr. Im also running 235/45/17 tyres which is one of the cheapest tyre sizes.

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
