R33 Gtr not getting fuel

Hi guys, i ama new gtr owner. Imported the car frm japan about 2 yrs ago and and the car in the garage. I am finally getting it ready to get a compliance and i ran into a problem. Up untilnow the car had been starting up fine and its safe to say that the car has only been driven about 1km in these two years but i used to regularly start it up. Yesterday i went to start up the car, at first it turned on for about 4 seconds and then turned off. The car is turning over and getting a proper self but is not starting. So i checked the spark plugs and they are fine, next i checked the fuel filter and that fine too. Ihave also checked all the fuses and they are fine. Took the filter off to see if fuel was flowing when i turn the key and there was the problem. There is no fuel coming through. Then i took out the fuel pump, checked it with a car battery and it works fine. But when i put the key in i cant hear the pump prime. I think i have checked the correct relay with a multimeter and that is working aswell. It was next to the battery, have added the photo of the relay. Can you guys tell me what could it be? Any help is appereciated guys.

That is the correct relay. Check to see if you have constant 12v at pin 3, if yes have you got power going in to pin 1 while cranking and coming out of pin 5 while cranking.

If yes to all of the above then there is a problem between the relay and the pump. Check the connector going through the fuel pump hat to make sure not burnt out or no corrosion causing poor connection.

if its not that then move further down to between the hat and the pump.

Hopefully that helps!

What were you checking?
The relay will need power and earth for the coil to switch the relay which then should put power on the NO contact in the relay.

So you should have constant 12v at the power in (pin 3) of the switched side, 12v on one of the coil side terminals (prob pin 1) when the key is turned on (remember that with the engine not running the fuel pump will stop after a few seconds, should be able to remove the CAS and spin it by hand to make the fuel pump come back on) and there should be ground at the other pin on the coil side (pin 2)

Pin 5 and the power into the fuel pump should have a good circuit, I would expect less than 1ohm of resistance

I hooked up the multimeter to the relay terminals. I am getting a constant 12v in no3 and 12v in no1 when i turn the key. Only getting about 0.4v in no5 when i crank. Also checked the brown grounding wire that goes to the grey and brown plugs on top of the fuel pump. Spliced the wire and grounded it directly to the battery, still nothing. Both the fuel pump connectors (brown and grey appear to be in good condition with no corrosion.

Put blade connectors onto wires then put straight 12v/ground onto the terminals in the top hat. If it runs look at the fuel pump relay again if it doesn't, you'll definitely know that the problem is in the tank.

Also grab a relay from under the bonnet and switch with fuel pump relay to cancel that out. The relays are all the same.

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
