great to hear it is sorted properly and an easy fix.  don't worry about the temp until it is north of 100.  the warmer they are they better they run, particularly in modern engines.

Drain and remove radiator

Remove thermostat

Run water through the engine until it's clean

Run water through radiator until clean (reverse direction, I think through the bottom?)

Reinstall radiator, thermostat, hoses etc.

Fill with appropriate water/antifreeze or whatever coolant, bleed via chopped drink bottle

Also dont forget heater hoses (flush the heater core) generally flushing the normal way works fine but I like to flush everything

82 is more than fine on cruise. 76 degrees is when the std thermo starts to open remember so your never going to keep it at 76. Mine used to do about 80-82 on a cold night from memory so id say your doing alright

I thought I'll do fine by just draining from the radiator and adding water. Keep doing that every day till water looks clean then use coolant. .. :/ too much work to remove rad and stat...

But seriously will my idea work? Will most if not all water in the engine block be cycled out?

Reverse flushing with a hose will dislodge more cr@p than just relying on gravity.

Will a radiator flush remove those crap? I actually still have a bottle of liquimoly flush that I've bought like 5 years ago but was reluctant to use it because of stories like it eating seals away etc but what do i know? :/

Flush with water. You can't remove everything without taking out the end tanks or simply buying a new radiator, but reverse flush should be enough.

I can't remember seeing a guide, but set aside a full day to do it. Run with a thermostat, it's there for a reason, running without it means your engine takes longer to heat up. Nismo thermostat is unnecessary, standard is fine. Your engine should be around 80-90°C.

Guys quick one. .. so i used a damn flush and now there's a lot of bubbles in my cooling system. .. can i just remove the bleeder valve at the top and let all the small bubbles flow out? Injector is just below it so a bit worried. ..

 

yesterday i went for a quick drive and noticed the temp needle was a bit weird. .. do u think my motors head is warped due to bubbles ? :| only went for about 20 minutes drive though. ..

U seem to know something lol. Ìm still seeing f**king foam in the bleed valve. I just use plain water after using the flushing agent! It's like the 6th time after the flush and I'm still seeing foam! What am i doing wrong ?

I did warm up to make sure the thermo is open. The foam just won't go!!! [emoji35]

Pull the thermostat out and flush it. Stick the hose in there and let it flow for 15mins or so have the ignition on (not started obviously) and have the heater on to make sure you get anything out of the heater core also. Even better, pull one of the heater lines off and flush through the core that way

Pissing me off... after more than 55 liters of RO water!!!!! f**king flush just won't get diluted. the time, money and water i wasted... guess I'll try that thermostat one! !!!

My heater is removed by the mechanic that did the transplant. I see 2 pipe holes on the fire wall on passenger side.

Reason why i hesitated on using hose method was that i didn't want to use tap water. Imagine how difficult a small bottle of chemical to be removed let alone tap water?

Btw my understanding is remove the lower rad hose and thermostat and stick a running hose through the thermo housing? Don't need to start the engine. Water will flow out lower radiator . Correct?

Can i guess if I'm seeing bubbles... means i have a blown head gasket? :/

Mechanic showed me bubbles when car was running and radiator Cap removed...

Man i knew that flush was a bad decision but then again i guess its just a matter of time. The flush just unmasked the issue ...

    • They are, a good friend of mine bought one to replace his blow factory turbo, running a Toshi Tune reflash. Just use their supplied water/oil lines and you're good to go. At the time, they were like $900 delivered.
    • This is an option for 100% bolt on, the GCG high flow -  https://gcg.com.au/turbo-charger-upgrade-skyline-gtst-2iu-xtrgts-s1.html Also, I'm pretty sure hypergear does a high flow that is 100% bolt on, it just doesn't make as much power as their bigger high flows.  Even if you get a hypergear turbo that requires you to chance the intake piping, it is a really simple modification. It can be as simple as a piece of silicon hose and you pop a filter on the end. It doesn't have to be some crazy pie cut titanium work of art intake pipe.  If you have the ability to swap the turbo yourself, you would be able to sort the intake piping out. 
    • Just as a thought, if it's in neutral, thats your drive line disconnect, not the clutch. Clutch slip at the dyno with pedal fully out, is actually adding a second disconnect. So it's not a clutch issue if you're in neutral. Just a bit of friction dragging the output around while in the air.
    • The HG high flow is excellent, and costs about the $$ you're talking about. But it, and probably every other highflow, uses a diffeent core than the original turo, and the original Hitatchi core is quite long. So, I think it is inevitable that there is likely no such thing as a highflow that just "bolts on" with no other effort required. And the same is likely true for HG's outright replacement "bolt on" turbos (the ATR things). And the same is likely true for anything similar from elsewhere. I have no idea if the cheap Chinese/Taiwanese complete turbos from eBay/Temu/etc are as bolt on as they claim. I mean, they claim the bolt onto the NAs as well as the turbos, and we know that can't be "bolt on". But it wouldn't matter because I'm not buying a $169 4 psi turbo for anything other than a paddock basher.
    • Bummer...yeah i "need" something to "ease" up the work and for my driving it would be enough.    Iam counting the tune "without" turbo. I do not mean "cheap" like something from Temu around 200 USD, "Cheap" is something around 1000 USD?
