Ordering turbo smart race port gen V. Was going to run one on either side of intercooler piping. You recon one on the turbo side will be enough.

One on the cold side (post intercooler) will be plenty. This is how I run it. Similar location to the 2xstock ones albeit with custom piping.

Hello. Sorry it's been a while since I have updated the build. With this constant "we are open and or closed" in every state, parts are getting delayed. Was hoping to have it running in October. Now I'll be lucky to see it this year. But I did get a nice surprise from powertune today.

Bosch 82mm DBW throttle.

Gear position sensor

Holinger strain guage.

Haven't had anything to write about for a while. Yesterday had a large delivery if parts from Golbys. It's been a 4 month wait but things are starting to move forward again.

Also learned that my OS88 gearbox, OS quad plate clutch and JUN plenum have arrived in Australia. So I hope to have them by the end of this month.

Still waiting for PWR radiator but car is booked in for 29th of November to have everything fitted and start running the engine in. Might do a full noise run this year.

Wow, Santa has been kind to you! Best part of any build for me is the accumulation of nice bits.

I enjoy it that much I've even bought shit twice!

Look forward to seeing it all come together for you.

Ha ha, I wish!  It’s because I’m married that it’s so long between each time I’m allowed buy stuff that I forget I’ve already bought it!  That’s actually entirely untrue.  It’s because I buy so many parts that I don’t realise I’ve already bought them! I just buy shit with reckless abandon!  If I was as good at fitting parts as I was at buying them I’d be done years ago! 😅

Hello everyone.

Yesterday was a busy day. OS88 has arrived. So has the quad plate clutch, the JUN GT intake manifold with throttle body. That last one will be going up for sale as I have since gone for a DBW throttle.

Removed and packed up the transfer case to go to TSS for a service/check over and a full strengthening package.

Would like to the JDM Garage for being able to help with parts with all of the troubles they have gone through. Glad to hear they are running bigger and better then ever. Will definitely use them again.

Also advance thanks to The Skyline Shed for being able to squeeze my work in on such short notice.

Car will be covered with appreciation sticker for everyone who helped me.

Transfer case all rebuilt and on its way to Perth. That's the last of the parts until I do the axles, diffs and shafts later in the year. Once again a huge thank you to The Skyline Shed.

Just read the thread, coming along nicely, great build, look forward to seeing this one finished, I’m in the middle of a build myself, well middle is being generous, probably closer to start, gearbox was, and still is to some extent a big dilemma for me, sequential is a must, after speaking to numerous people I came down to either OS88 or Holinger, right now I’m set on Holinger, but haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet.
All the best moving forward and keep the updates coming 👍🏼

I have had a number of people tell me that os88 is very rough and old school. Maybe. Plenty of people have run 8s on them and still use them daily. Plus you can pick them up for less then a 6 speed getrag and it will fit straight in.

Im just waiting to put everything in. My builder has had some staff and booking issues. Was meant to be running it in now and racing in Feb. May make it to Cooda in April.

Have you got a build thread here?

Yes, title is ‘GTR, I just got one’ or something like that, I really need to update it with the direction I’m taking the car, it more follows the evolution of the car then an outright build, although it is now going through a nut and bolt restoration. I was running a 30/26 with a 68/70 turbo, was a really nice combo, had a few issues when it was last finished and I was going to sort it but a motor came up, similar to yours, JHH built , but 2.7 in an N1 block with JHH raceport head, was built using a new block and new head.
so rather then sink more money into sorting out the old set up I took it out, sold the motor and started what I’m into now. Was supposed to be engine out, paint the bay, new motor in and tune… didn’t work out that way. Lol

By far the most exciting day of the build. Filled the car full of parts and its going on a truck on Wednesday to finally get put together. Maybe I should start a poll on what the first and the final hub power figure will be.

Well progress is slow but it’s progress non the less. Engine is now in 1 piece and sump has the extension on it. Have engineer coming tomorrow to confirm a few details to make sure that the car will make it over the pits ok.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
