Hi all to the community, I am new in the JDM scene and i am so exited!

i would like some advice from all and possibly what i can do, will try to add as much as detail in for everyone !

I have recently purchased a r32 gts4 skyline with a rb26 in it. so the previous owner had it for 6 years and always serviced ect it every 5000kms, the engine now has 180 xxx kms on it. back to the question, he had issues with the twins so he removed them and bought a single turbo garret ec-1 a/r7 - xjm 62406 and a manifold and wastegate to suit. he then lost interest and the car sat for 6 months. i have purchased the car like this and went to 2 tuning shops these are my options

1) tune shop 1- chuck n5s 2860s turbos, aftermarket manifold, dump pipe + tune

2) tune shop 2-   bring the car in (with the twins again) and they will have a look at it because it might be the load limit and the turbos might be fine. they also said i might have to look into a rebuild as its at 180 000kms.

3) ????

thanks everyone for reading this! i hope all is having a lovely day / night

Ok. So along with the car you were given the complete stock twin setup and also an aftermarket manifold, turbo and gate?

Are you 100% sure it is an "EC-1" turbo? I've never heard of such a creature before.

wanting to get a workshop to do the work but done know what options to go with or whats the best thing. just got in contacted with the owner his got the twins and all the bolts for me if i wanted

@Murray_Calavera

Yeah ok, the most important thing then will be to find a workshop you can trust. I'm on the other side of Australia so can't make any recommendations unfortunately.

As for what you have that workshop carry out, you've got a lot of options. I'll throw in my 2c

Option 1 which is the cheap option. This only applies if the previous owner can supply 100% of the parts for the twin setup. Have the turbos rebuilt/high flowed by HyperGear and go back to the twin setup.

Option 2. Previous owner can't supply the twin setup? Hit up some wreckers and buy a complete working twin setup.

Option 3. Bin all of the single turbo parts you've been given (from what I can see, it all looks like rubbish. It's very expensive paying a workshop to try and make rubbish work, then you have to bin it all and start again anyway thus paying twice). So, this option is to start again and buy a quality single turbo setup. This will get expensive very quickly, you could easily spend $4,000 on just the turbo and manifold...

All comes down to what you want to do with the car long term really.

Got it mate thanks heaps, the old turbos are GT2859R-9s and the cars got a oem fuel pump, 880cc injectors and apexi fc comanders and on the dyno it hit 370hp

i was hopping to hit around 400ish. is that possible with the twins?

and also yes hes got all the bolts and parts for the twin turbo set up only thing it will need is an oil line because he cut it

@Murray_Calavera

Hard to say what your next setup will make without knowing what you'll be running.

Have a look at the RB26 turbo upgrade dyno results thread for ideas about what parts you'll need to hit your goals.

    • Absolutely could be. I collected data logs from when the O2 sensor was still out and also after I had replaced it so will try to compare them. Pretty confident that the affect is lowered with the new sensor, will check logs at the same RPMs/conditions.
    • Hey guys Long time lurker, I daily a nm35 stagea 250t rs four and I've had it for almost 2 years (very reliable 👌). • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
