I left my indicator bulbs out to save a bit of weight. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484431-my-bmw-335i/page/10/#findComment-7997002 Share on other sites
PranK
I just replaced the god awful, sagging, crunchy bonnet insulation. It's something nobody but I see but it's been at me for a while. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484431-my-bmw-335i/page/10/#findComment-7997028 Share on other sites
Kinkstaah
Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company. PranK
Gave her a nice wash today and took extra time to clean off the tree sap and tar and crap. We have a usable garage now so she'll stay cleaner longer. Took a few snaps in some nice light afterwards. 3 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484431-my-bmw-335i/page/10/#findComment-7997207 Share on other sites

Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484431-my-bmw-335i/page/10/#findComment-7997246 Share on other sites

niZmO_Man
Just buy a bunch of covers off aliexpress, they're like $5 each. Rattle-can them and stick them on as needed/fly off. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484431-my-bmw-335i/page/10/#findComment-7997302 Share on other sites

I never noticed a difference between mine being on or off in terms of sound etc. It isn't on the bonnet like dynamat etc. The main difference I can see it "potentially" doing is keeping some of the engine bay heat off the bonnet on the outside. So really, at most, it might be protecting the paint the tiniest bit. But there are plenty of examples out there where people have removed it, and it doesn't hurt the paint work. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484431-my-bmw-335i/page/10/#findComment-7997645 Share on other sites
PranK
Some of the BMW community feel it offers a fire resistance of some description but I'm not sure that's accurate. Personal experience. Those f**kers burn. And are actually a PITA to put out. Next time I walk down the back, I'll snap a photo of what the inside of the bonnet looks like when that thing ignites. PS, powder fire extinguishers are useless on that stuff too as it's fibrous and when it ignites, it starts to pull apart. And you end up just blowing powder through a sieve effectively. Like the big thing is, if it's fire resistant, it's job is to stop what burning? The METAL above it? It's just to try keep heat off the bonnet paint work. PranK
I put PPF on my new headlights which was easier than I expected. I have some for the X5 too because it's headlights are pristine for some reason and I dont think they'll stay that way. I also put some silver wrap on these number plate holes. The colour is not a match by any standard but I think it still improves things, what do you think? PranK
Maybe a single length would make it look better. I might be able to push down the guts coming out of the holes too.
