I've got a 1998 RS260 so the RB26DETT from a R33 GTR.

Put it on the dyno last weekend and it only pulled 110kws with 4psi boost?

I've just brought a power fc from japan and looking to get a Turbosmart E boost street.

What could be to problem before I put the parts on and tuned.

I would think it should have more power than that standard.

Thanks

Nick

I dont know much but Id say the 4psi of boost will be part of the problem, for sure. What were the AFRs? Could be running very rich too.

Well thats what i think. I cant understand why its running 4psi. It should be waste gate pressure.

I'm hoping to be over 200kwsatw once tuned and 10-14 psi on the standard turbos.

Anyone know what the R33 gtr turbos will run?

Nick

I think 10psi is standard. 14psi is about the max you want to run safely. I'm running 13psi on my 260RS and have 200kwatw. Perhaps you have a blocked cat or a boost leak or something like that. 4psi is less than actuator pressure I think.

Impul ecu run just happened, much better than last time.. 173.5kw on the same dyno (we made a whopping 126 last time), and a stack more torque too! :D

A bit rich but more than liveable Dunc, I wonder if it is just running out of injector at max revs...

Knew there was something else I was meant to ask about :D next time.

What'd reckon my target AFR's should be? I'd assume at this point the only way to get it better leaner (aside from waiting for the Impul to self tune) is either emanage or an AFC?

Yep, dont bother with the AFC, Emanage is very good at what it does and will allow multiple maps (e85 hint hint) and self tuning with a wideband.

You should be aiming for flat 12afr at full throttle, right through the revs. You are safer than that so theres no issue (other than fuel consumption) but if you notice it leans back out to 12 at the end, im just not sure what caused it. The injectors should be good for over 220. Perhaps its the pump but I would say its just a weird tune. Looks like you picked up a good one there. :D

Nice result Dunc.

Stock boost on your car is 12psi.. If you did the bypass on the boost solenoid you can have unlimited boost.

I think Craig has seen 24psi using my Impul ECU at the moment as there is no boost cut on this ECU.

Cheers

Andy

Hrm weird, I did do the bypass. Manifold pressure graph looks like it maxed out at 15psi though  last time I maxed out at less than 10 pounds though.

May have something to do with the exhaust? I know that Craig has 3" from the turbo back, so less restriction.

Can't remember what you have Dunc (is it just the group buy dump and stock exhaust?)

ah good point. At the moment Ive got a stock dump, with a 2nd cat in the pipes, and a nismo adjustable exhaust muffler (which was set to sport for the run). Might need to give that new group buy dump some consideration.

Even if you don't touch the rest of your exhaust, change the dump pipe.

Certainly the biggest power boost when you do this. There is a massive cat in the middle of the stock dump that is soo restrictive.

On my car with the stock turbo I have seen 20psi when I did the bypass. Not for long as I don't thing the ceramic turbine will be happy for long even with a ball bearing core.

Cat in the stock dump is too restrictive?

Oh, you must be referring to this then :)

Yes Dunc. Change your sump pipe ASAP!

Either get in on the group buy unit or preferrably, talk to Scotty about one of his dump/front pipe units

+ 1 million!

I can vouch for the difference it makes even with a standard exhaust. Spools up faster, accelerates harder, more responsive, nicer engine note, slightly better fuel economy, need any more reasons? :)

Not sure where to from here.... Im at the end of the road AFM and turbo, tapping boost cut every so often.

    • I thought Australia got rid of the "drag dodgy fuel up to 91 RON with ethanol", which is why all E10 advertise as "up to 94 RON" ? Anyway I put E10/91 in the missus' Mazda because she empties the tank weekly, when all my cars get 98RON. tl;dr - turbo - 98 RON, if you can't afford that, sell it and get a commuter car (or tune your car for 91, which no one does).
    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
