Hot water will Crack it.

Warm water will work.

Cold water will Freeze even thicker. (done it.)

Cover it with a Blanky or Sun Visor Dealy on the outside = No Ice.

Tap water actually works a treat. It will only freeze back over quickly if you 1) Don't poor enough water over the glass. or 2) if the temp is below like -10. Yes water freezes at -0, but not fast enough to freeze back over.

Flammable Liquids and an Ignition source works better though.

Don't turn on the wipers without unsticking them from the glass first...

Doesn't sound good when they are on but they can't move.

Best thing to do is use room temp water (kettle water is good) pour on windscreen turn window wipers on and leave them on until you leave
