lazza
Hi Guys, I'm interested to know how my driving record compares to the average person on this forum, (probably not a good comparison but it might make me feel better). How many offences would you expect after 12 years of driving, (considering I enjoy a bit of motorsport)??? I have had a number of offences including speeding and negligent driving (which involved a slide exiting a highway, ie no traffic and no chance of injurying anyone else). I believe that I drive safely and have not caused or been involved in an accident in 12yrs of driving. (only the odd self inflicted dent / scratch on dirt roads etc). Lets see what people think is a reasonable or average number of infringements for 12 years on the road. leech_
Disobeying a red traffic signal - 3 pointsSpeeding 2 points Speeding - 3 points Speeding - 3 points Negligent driving (drifting) - 3 points Negligent Driving (drifting) - 3 points dude you shouldnt have a licence obviously you are doing these things with other cars around otherwise you wouldnt have been caught and if i got cleaned up by someone who ran a red light i would be mighty pissed off. everyone gets speeding fines but neg driving is a bit dodgy. Hope that helps Anyway, is this normal or excessive, (considering I enjoy a bit of motorsport)??? I expect that a lot of you have done much worse, i hope thats not the case if it is it would make sence why insurance companies hate skyline owners anyways i have 1 fine for < 15kms 3 years ago Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55135-driving-offences-what-have-you-been-done-for/#findComment-1076036 Share on other sites

Munkvy
Ive only been driving about 4-5 years, and its a little different in NZ: twice driving without a license 6 times driving on restricted license, infringment is either for carrying passengers on restricted license (cant carry passengers) or driving outside of license hours (cant drive btw 10pm-5am). and 2 speeding tickets. And about 8-10 times for no WOF or Rego or both at the same time. Havent yet been caught under the new NZ laws against "excessive" acceleration or "sustained" loss of traction, heres hoping I dont! Beer Baron
Hi Guys,I'm interested to know how my driving record compares to the average person on this forum, (probably not a good comparison but it might make me feel better). This has been triggered by another Negligent Driving offence I copped this morning, (second one this year). My record for the last 12 years of driving is as follows; Disobeying a No left Turn sign - 2 points Excessive noise - $50 Riding a pushbike without a helmet - $20! Riding a pushbike through a red light - $20! Disobeying a red traffic signal - 3 points Speeding 2 points Speeding - 3 points Speeding - 3 points Concealing a number plate (motorcycle) - $110 Negligent driving (drifting) - 3 points Negligent Driving (drifting) - 3 points I think that all, (will have to get a print out I think!) Anyway, is this normal or excessive, (considering I enjoy a bit of motorsport)??? I expect that a lot of you have done much worse, but Im getting a bit worried that Im getting a bit too much history! How does this look to you? Let me know your thoughts. All I can say is you are a brave (stupid?) man for posting this up, considering that you are now going to be subject to the flaming of a lifetime. I predict many, many people are going to post up saying what a tool they think you are and how you give 'line owners a bad name etc etc. Not saying it's my opinion, just predicting what's going to happen. Hope you are wearing your nomex suit. :flamed: :flamed: :flamed: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55135-driving-offences-what-have-you-been-done-for/#findComment-1076150 Share on other sites
Revhead
I'm 25 in a few months and (touch wood) I'm yet to lose a point. But I have been done for: Unregistered/uninsured: Moving car from one driveway to the other at my house. Total distance: 10m. Cost: $480. Involuntary undue noise: $240, no points. Given that you've been driving for 12 years I would say that your record is fairly normal - not fantastic, but not uncommon either. It really depends on the circumstances of the offenses as to whether you're a more reckless driver than most though, for example, if your drifting adventures are in a deserted industrial estate or something, bad luck, but if they're in traffic, then tuff shit Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55135-driving-offences-what-have-you-been-done-for/#findComment-1076152 Share on other sites

JH32
i'd be careful when posting up offences etc.... dunno who here reads em *coff insurance coff* If your insurance company doesn't know about your offences and you have a crash, they could refuse to pay you out. I've seen it happen unfortunately. I've had a couple of fines but nothing major ie. "driving without seatbelt" .. pulling belt on as I came out of the carpark driving through a no-entry sign ... in the backstreets of my suburb couple of speeding fines got pulled over the other night doing 95 in a 70 zone but I had no-one in the car with me, and there were no other cars around, so the cops graciously let me off Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55135-driving-offences-what-have-you-been-done-for/#findComment-1076211 Share on other sites

I don't think he is stupid for posting this as it gives us all a chance to reflect on what we have done wrong and, hopefully, try to change it.. P.S. I have only lost 4 points in the last two years so I am getting better. Plus not all of them were speeding. I have NEVER drunk drove and never run a red light...but I have gone 10 kms over the limit on many occasions. It doesn't make me a dangerous driver, I'm just a stupid one.
