Does any one know any companys who is importing nissans from japan

I got around $12500-13000 and i wanna buy a skyline r32 with low milege and preferebly stock if its gonna be 89 year i guess its not gonna be a problem to fing one right? ( 15 year rule)

so if anyone knows any ,can u tell me plz their phone numbers or website maybe ( expect for prestigemotors)

and should i start looking for the car now or maybe wait for new year and get a bit newer model , like 90 year model?

I sold my 180 sx sr20 turbo 6 months ago ( due to lose of license) and i was very happy with this car and i feel sorry now that i sold it

so will i feel a big dofferent between 180sx and r32?

Also how good is RB20DET engine? is it relaible?

Any help would be great

Thank you :Paranoid:

I wouldn't recommend waiting until next year to import a 15yo car. The rules are changing and they may not be available.

Have a look in the Importing section for people's experiences with different brokers

yes.. many people use them.. there are lots of other importers too, especially around sydney or melbourne. Try a search in your particular state.

To be honest, I would give up on importing a 15 year car. Most likely the rule will end 1st Jan, 2005, which means you will just get an older car that has to go through the full SEVS compliance and be returned to stock. May as well get a 93 car then.

Shipping schedules are also too tight now, so even those who paid for cars are going to be waiting until January, Feburary, maybe even longer to get their car. I paid for mine at the end of July, and its now nearly mid-November and its only just on its way (and I was lucky with the shipping). If you bought today, there would be nearly no chance of getting it shipped anytime before end of january from what I can gather. Wouldn't be onroad until end of Feb.. long wait!

Its grim, but think you might have left your charge too late. Unfortunately the price locally has gone up too... keep saving and buy an r33 :D They're better value at the moment in comparison.

Hi Pashka. I had a 93 180SX a few years back. Great car, motored along very nicely, it was a 5spd like yours. My best mate drove a '90 GTSt and we often took cars for a spirited drive. Both had standard susp, 3" from turbo, and unmodified boost. After driving my car and his car, and driving against his car on many occasions, I'd have to say you're doing the right thing.

The factory GTSt suspension appeared much nicer - his car could squeeze through corners (as in 70-90 degree corners) anywhere up to 10kmh faster than the 180 could. They pulled about the same in a straight line, but the RB20 seemed to rev a lot smoother than the SR20 - don't really know how to describe/justify it, but the extra 2 cyl made it sound like it wasn't working as hard as the SR.

Both stopped about the same, no noticeable difference there.

End of the day, they are pretty close, with the Skyline ahead by a nose. My comparison is obviously subject to our driving skill (both around the same, but still not race car drivers by any stretch), tyres, etc.

Suffice to say, if I had to buy a 2.0L turbo again, I'd put my money on the GTSt every time. Plus they look horn. :)

Mark

I agree with Duncan. (That is, either buy straight away, or wait)

It is quite possibly the worst moment to buy an import as:

  • The rules are about to change
  • Prices on 15 year old cars are inflated in expectation of the rule change
  • The shipping lines are bumping cars off left, right and centre

Unless you can find the R32 GTS-t your after within the next two or three weeks, and its already eligable for import approval, I wouldn't bother with importing: wait till the dust settles from the implementation of the new system

LW.

you can buy a car on the 31st of dec and if they change the laws on the 1st of jan, then you can ship it even halfway thru 2005 and you'll still be exempt from the law change, as it occured AFTER you bought your car.

hmmm I think that the only way to guarantee that would be to get the import approval before 31/12. Its possible they won't accept the date of purchase since everyone has been warned that it will change?

We've had a verbal word of advice from a officer at DOTARS, but atm we've got our legal team to contact them and request confrimation in writing, and with a legally valid reason (legistation, amendment etc), and exact date and other details that we need. In the meantime we've adviced them that we will continue purchasing cars until such date as we recieve any confirmation of these rumours, as it is both beneficial to them and us.

Keeps everything completely legal and above the table for us, and doesn't leave anything to guesses and rumour-mongers.

In all probability, DOTARS will -- as you have said -- allow cars already purchased. However, that's relying on their good will. At the end of the day, unless you have lodged your application for import approval before the date of commencement for the new regulations, you could be subject to the new scheme.

As I said, its unlikely, but personally I wouldn't want to be sitting on a 1990 car :)

    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
