Shiv you cat....get the dvd crankin'

I do understand some interesting torture techniques that can...well.......you know the rest :) Just play it somewhere public. You'll be safe until we get you police protection.

Has anyone got the link to the WRX Club, i would really want to get the entry form for the Twilight sesion at Calder Park

Yes! me too Al, I'm keen to enter that one... I just put up a thread asking about it in the events section, but it disappeared?!!

The WRX club site is here - www.wrx.com.au but I couldnt find any info about a twilight club sprint in Jan...

I had a quick chat as I was leaving. I don't think he knew too much about the car but it was a silver R31 2 door which he said had been dressed up to look like a GTS-R. Was a damn tough looking car. Silver and had the plates "SEVNTH". Had an aftermarket turbo and other enine work. Very neat looking car. Was very quick too but didn't get any pics sorry.

hi man

that was our old car has a 2.8 litre in it

and trust me it is one torque monster

cya mate

PMSL - hey scott - does your dad have a website with all the photos he took from the weekend????

Nah he doesn't. I've got a whole bunch of his thumbnail printouts. There's 4 pics of the one's you were asking about. Come over and check em out if you want.

Anyways I forgot to tell Al that you could have that disc (its not the finished item). Either way pm me and you'll get a copy of it.

btw Its hard keeping all you girls happy with these videos

haha

where were u at the last meeting num nuts! u were going to bring a few copies of the Sandown DVD

hey guys, thats me in the silver volvo, sorry if i pi$$ed any of you guys off, all those skylines were very intimidateing! i wish the sweadish brick had power like that!i agree with some of the comments about other drivers, alot of people were going full noise and not takeing into acount of people around them. its a wonder these 'fundays' even exsist with todays 'legalites'.i had a great time non the less 90% of the people were very nice.a few people in holdens could't handel the fact that a volvo just went pass them so they were out to be a$$holes. i strongly recomend good tyres to have maximum fun as it makes alot differnce especialy if you are a newbe as they makeup for the mistake's.hopefuly ill be there next time, be sure to come and say hi.

BTW, what were some of the top speeds you guys were getting on the straights?

most i got was 165klm/h

michael. :D

the volvo- re-55 tyres,av-gas,kevlar pads,head ported/polished,larger throttle body,stratos racing seats,3.95:1LSD,custom cam,magnacore ignigtion,20degree advance timing,4spd close ratio hollenger gearbox with a 'real' short shift kit ;)

i saw 200klms...i think....adz might have been paying more attention than i was of the speed .....That crazy german in the supra saw 210 or something like that....hey volvo dude....you had an awful close mishap through the s there that bust's up the main straight!

Hi Mike,

My friend and I were suprised by number of volvos etc.

>> BTW, what were some of the top speeds you guys were getting on the straights?

I think the best i got was around the same. Was driving an Auto, and didnt have a long enough run to build speed. Guess i lost too much speed through corners. I was aiming for cornering and not speed, so only boosted hard towards the end of the laps.

How the hell did you afford a hollenger? my friend works for them, and gear box are like 16 grand.

ylwgtr2>>> yeah that was pretty bloody skcetchy through there!!! i was seeing just how far i 'could' brake.... it turns out to stop from 150 you need at least 50m :P .go figure! it was volvo vs tire barrier, so i closed my eyes and prayed and some how i came out on the other side!

heartbrkr>>> i could't beleve that there were other volvos there!i thought i was going to be the only one, they were pushing hard to but they were just stock. the gearbox was built by a guy who owned the car before me. he had brought just the close ratio gearset and put them in himself. un-syncromeshed so it grinds if you dont double the clutch at hi rpm. he had brought the set awhile ago, and i think he new someone there, still cost him a few grand!

michael. :D

next time i will have the new exhaust and a few other treats.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
