Antenna conversion

Hi B5URK,

There is an alternative to getting a new head unit, which is the FM modulators that change the frequencies.

Jaycar, Strathfield and any number of car audio places will sell you one that usually changes the range by some number (best to get the one that changes it by 20Mhz as then it makes sense ie. 101.9 becomes 81.9) and then everything else works OK. These converters use std australian aerial plugs though, so check what kind you have before you start.

Good luck

Ned

what to do if yours is cut off?

lol

i'd follow the cut wire until u find the next connecting point and replace it from there...

better than solderring it in my opinion. but i dunno if its a lot of trouble to do this. probably is actually

Is this the same power wire that raises/lowers the antenna when the stereo is switched on? Or is there a separate wire for the signal booster?

make sure you connect the power-antenna output (usually the blue wire) to the black/red wire in the centre pin of the factory headunit plug. This powers the factory antenna signal booster.

There is another black/red wire next to it but it's a speaker wire.

Hi Guys,

Went in to my local Auto Barn shop and ask for a device to allow me to pick up 90+ Mhz range of radio station and they gave me this:

Aerpro FM Antenna Booster - AP342

On the back it says:

Amplified FM Antenna Booster in or under dash mouting.

Power Frequency gain 88Mhz > 10.5dB, 98Mhz > 10.9dB, 108Mhz > 9.5dB.

Can anyone (Chris Rogers??) confirm that this will allow the standard R33 radio to pick up aussie stations? I guess from reading this thread that I will need the antenna convertor too??

Thanks,

Justin.

    • For future reference, I believe all that Amayama does is act as a middleman between you and Nissan. Go to your local dealership, ask nicely for a parts account (I get 15% off with mine) and you'll get better pricing. Cheers,
    • Hi guys, I have a 2005 V35 skyline with the vq35de.  It is a drift car and has been stripped, its now running a standalone ECU and a body harness. Dash everything has been changed to a digital dash controlled by ecu.  The vq35de has been great, very reliable but wanting more HP atm the 35de is making 228rwhp. I'd like to be making about 350rwhp. From my research it looks like a vq25det lightly modified could be a good engine to swap in. I understand the CD trans will bolt up right to the vq25det with a 35de sump used.  My only issue is a wiring harness/ecu to control the vq25det, from what i've found the ecu is a lot different to the vq35de so my plugin for the 35de will not work. Is there any potential to use the vq35de wiring harness and modify as necessary to retain the plugin ecu?  Keen to hear what you guys think, or am I best off to chuck on a cheap turbo kit on the 35de and see how long it lasts.
    • Oh sorry Justin! I was racking my brain trying to remember names, not sure why I associated “Adam” with 7tune! I’m good, been away from Skylines for over a decade, got family and kids now. Just getting back into owning a 32 but it’s a whole different world now… tax is higher and tech is better.
    • Who's Adam? Hehe 😁All good mate, it's Justin. Been good! And you? The HCR32 is looking sweet by the way! Love the very neat Nav install.  I would love to get one but I'm at a crossroads right now and can't commit to another car.
