i also wouldve thought thered be more in it at that boost, bearing in mind i was initially a bit disappointed with 220rwkw from my old 2530, until i realised it sat next to or beat cars with 250+rwkw! while we all like to compare power figures side by side, at the end of the day it is just a figure and its how the car drives that counts.

Mark at MRC think something is holding me back some restristion. I dont expect much more from the turbo. There is heaps of mid range and top end in this turbo.

Injectots i have are apexi 555cc and bosch 044 pump with surge tank and standard pump running in boot.

It was a really hot day during tuning etc, not sure if the dyno figures takes that into equation but it was 45 degrees in the dyno room and didnt have a fan blowing onto the intercooler.

Will hopefully be out the creek on wednesday to run so if people are keen lest get a bit of a crew there. would not mind matching it up with a few others cars.

saw boro's car last night......seems to pull really well

lets wait and see what it does at wsid

PS. Dont wear the same heavy shoes mate :P

Yogi will trying to get off work for wsid. Yeah have been trying to take it easy, its pretty hard tho. should come to the creek.

power sounds right to me, its a gtrs not a t67 or something what do people expect

people expect more than 250rwkw over 1bar, since thizzle set the standard with his 250rwkw at 1bar! :(

but without cams i wouldnt expect much more than 250 even over 1bar. I wouldnt think thered be much more efficient flow left, if that even means anything..

Just took it out for a run now, first cold night since i got it. on 1.3 bar boost at high rpm engine cut-out light comes on, was told that this is pinging although i cant hear anything. going to run it back on dyno to set timing back a few degrees.

I am sure thizzle made 250kw @ 1.3 bar, it is impossible to make it at 1 bar.

i would be very surprised if it made 250 at one bar, but then again who knows due to the difference in dynos.

anyway croat, if the engine light flashes it does mean that the power fc has picked up noise that comes up on the ping reading as (usually) 60 or more. if you have the hand controller you can check it next time, although it might have been a noise other than pinging.

well 250rwkw at 1bar was what he posted after having it tuned at BD4s, only going on what he said. I used to run up to 1.3bar with my 2530, but then when tuning the 2835 my tuner said he didnt want to go over 1.1bar till i did the headgasket. Maybe i could run higher boost with the small turbo coz it would always drop right off at the top end, not sure.

nah i never tuned on 1.3 boro...plus i had slippin clutch. and rushed tune cuz i wanted my car back i think i gave bd4s like 3 hrs on a friday arvo...your 1.3 is alot diffrent to mine man :) somethins holdin it back...cuz i pay out the ass for jap tuners and mechanics maybe ??on 1.3 i woulda got 260-265...your engine wasnt pingin man its runnin very smooth.. it could be tuned a little more i think...

post up the dyno show folks the torque lets see if they still would be dissapinted...

time to take it to yoshi :kick:

btw did ya block that bit yosh said to block up?? cuz ur using that catch can with the air filter on top??? wich results in you loosing boost..

this is about the same power alot of people are making with the GT-RS on sr20det's, although with cams... they dont seem to flow much more then 250rwkw, if thats the power output your after, then the turbo is perfect for responce/power

if you go for some radical duration on your cams you may see more power... the turbines on these turbos are relatively small which does choke them up top when pushed

I got a GTRS installed last week and tuned on saturday and got 255rwkw at 1.2 bar still have standard air flow meter so should be a bit more in it when I get it retuned with a Z32 or something similar. Other mods are full 3 inch exshaust, FMIC, PFC, nismo 555cc injector, exhaust cam, lightened flywheel and ceramic clutch, spitfire coils and bosch 044 fuel pump. Also great response and enough power to keep me satisfied and scare the sh!t out of my mates, also makes the car sound awesome as well.

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
