my first car was a 92 subaru brumby. got it from my grandad at bout 60000ks sold it at bout125000ks and thrashed the crap out of it the whole time tops speed of 163km/h (private track) had a 2'1/4 inch exhaust k&n filter rollbars 2 12 inch subs and a pair of kicker splits  best part about it. the only problem with it was parts were so expensive. for example new distributor from subaru = about $2000

new 2nd gear shaft from subaru= $2500

put those two parts together and they r worth more then the whole car in one piece lol. but was very reliable only probs i had was things that i caused like 2nd gear

my first car was a VL with 17s, and a nice (free) respray, sold it before i got my leaners for a nice profit, bought the car u see in my sig, started off as a non turbo 2.5 ltr that ran a 14.0 with gas, then got turned into something unique early last year, still havent sold it, and i bought myself a 33 Vspec, parents helped me out a little with the NA 33 the rest i bought myself, and yes i do live at home and pay minimal board but im working full time while going to uni and earning reasonable money for my age so im making the most of it. Though i do plan to move out in a month or so as soon as i get the gtr back on the road.

1972 Mercedes Benz 280E

had a full ground up restoration (paint, interior, suspension, running gear.) done by my uncles (Dahtone bodyworks/restorations)

still have it and one day ill bring it back on the road. lowrider style

I’ve never really had a “real first” car, as everything I have owned has been bought with only the intention on re-selling it for profit.

1) 93` R32 Gtst - $14,00. Sold for $16,200.

2) 89` K’s S13 - $4000. Sold for $4500 with no running gear.

3) 89` K’s S13 - $5500. Sold for $7000.

4) 93` R32 Gtst - $14,500. Sold for $16,000.

5) 89` R32 Gts - $?. Sold for $TBA.

I guess if I had too list a “real” first car, It would be a 600hp S13 I took over after it was used for drag racing by another family member.

Hey, DAN00H,

My parents opened a account for me and my brothers when we are little lad, put some money every week, been saving long enough to buy my first car...

I live at home with parents now on Yr12 and using public transport every day to school... so i don't spend too much on fuel (until i'm on my Ps)

Cheers

Hey Grant, good to hear that you are making the most of a good situation. Better yet, save for the deposit on your first house! Bought my first when I was 21 - only wish I had done it sooner and haden't ploughed so much cash into cars!

I'd sell my GTR tomorrow if I could get another buy like that house!

mine was a 1989 holden VN Calais - full options, leather 'n all. Was great to cruise around with all the boys.

Thought i was King Dick til i bought my 32. I now realise how much of a fool i was to think that i could take a Skyline in it

*hang my head in shame*

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
