Hi everyone, just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on my "dilema"?

A little while ago I completed a power upgrade on my R33, with the high-flow turbo i'm running up to 18psi and now on changing gears I get the "flutter" sound (currently stock BOV).

I'm not a big fan of this sound nor do I want an atmo BOV....

will fitting an aftermarket plumback BOV rectify things back to normal (slight "koosh" sound through the POD filter)? also with the Greddy type R BOV's theres an option for a stiffer spring....good idea??

also....with my bigger injectors making the journey on the boat over as we speak, possible could be pushing a bit more boost (maybe 20-21psi?), should i prepare myself for a better head gasket? or cosider a better turbo to get the figures at a lower pressure? not interested in high mounts or external gates.

thanks for any input as it will be great to hear different opinions/theorys an help make up my mind about what to do.

:D

mate i got myself a DD Blitz and theres an option for a harder spring for 18psi+

so undoubtedly theres one for urs, so hey... :)

im still trying to find out what the hell the other bolt on that came wid the box is for [the funnel is obvious and thats what was conneced to the BOV but the filtery thingie i got no hope in hell tow ork out damn manual is in jap]

also having a wierd problem that comes to play here n there, i keep thinkin its a boost leak but i doubt thats the case, ive replaced nearly every vac line with brand new ones... it just sits when i spool down to the lights and the revs bounce between 300-500rpm for a bit , or unless i just tap the accelerator then it stops itself... only happens here n there

seeing i dont know much about this BOV, ive tried to loosen the nut on the damn thin but it either falls off or just retightens itself back to where it was originally... and i dont want to go stuffing wid something that cost me an arm and a leg cause i was impatient [friggen 500$ grrr wasted but meh, GF wanted the pshhh *sigh*]....

anyone able to rectify this id be much more happier... cheers...

plus does anyone get the feelign oncethey go from plumb back [stock] to a BOV that it feels as if the car is slower... i dunno i just feel it is but i dunno any way of checking it....

with the plumb back it seems to accel harder [or so if feels] and wid the BOV holding stock boost better it chirps second gear high end alot more and second gear in the wet wheelspins alot harder and easier than it did without *sigh* dillemma is annoyin me, or its just my ways of always wanting things to be right and if it doesn't seem right, it shits me off till someone that knows whats happening, can either tell me its usual or how to fix it...

im a perfectionist and it sucks ;/

the fluttering on full boost with stock bov is obviously cause it can't flow enough air back.

after market bov should do the trick.

GFB plumbacks are good.

you can usually pick one up second hand for about $150-$200

If it still flutters, then I would suggest that maybe the bov return line can't handle the amount of air it has to flow back.

again, easy fix...

just replace the metal twisty retun line with a large diameter rubber hose.

Get a set of GTR BOV's berin.

Heaps better than stock gts-t item

i think is what i have to do also

You do require a aftermarket BOV, like Ash sugested GT-R bov's would work, I have a Dual stage Bleed valve and realised that i needed an aftermarket bov becasue when i was driving it at 10Psi i got a normal Pssh sound, but when i swtiched it on High boost (17 Psi) It made the flutter sound.

how much are a set of GTR BOV's going for these days? do they bolt straight on? any pics of them installed on a stock manifold/piping RB25?

if it's cost effective it sounds like a good option ash. The Greddy type R BOV with stiffer spring i can get for $303.29 from nengun to my door which i think is pretty cheap really, and its not chrome or anodised or some bright colour that draws attention to it....I rather the engine bay to look "reletively" stock.

hopefully my injectors arrive before the GOR cruise so i can have it tuned and ready for a.........nice leisurly drive :D...........

better pay to be a member first though.....

ahh so tahts flutter... i reakon it sounds like shit... but hey thats me... but each to their own...

gives it some kind of "characteristic" but meh.. still i dont like anything that isn't built to produce the sound without any risks at all... risk factor == 0% - 10% is all i like to see :P

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
