My R32 has a re-mapped standard ECU running a T78 and it runs fine... saying that I bet it would run a hole lot better with a PFC or MOTEC but that's in the near future.

My advice would be to get the aftermarket ECU so you will never have to revisit this question again... no matter how crazy your mods get.

Power FC seems to be the pick of the bunch with many workshops able to install and tune at resonable prices.

Is your car a GTR or gtst? People forget the Power FC for the r32 GTSt is almost $1000 more expensive than all the other models, when you include the handcontroller.

Otherwise remapping costs about $300?

Powerfc is $1200 + $300 tuning?

microtech is possibly the worst ECU you could use.

No, probably if your tuner did. Take it to some workshops down slater parage, or bresciani racing. They love them and have very fast circuit/street cars with them.

Whats bad about there tunning maps? I have seen a microtech run like standard.. anyway.... arguements you have no proof.

Do it, lots better then a crappy remap which you CANNOT SELL DOWN THE TRACK >

Atleast someone will buy your LTX8s when you want to sell it... whos gunna pay 600$ for a remap? there worth around 200$

Cheers

If your car is a R32, get yourself a Microtech ECU.. LTX8 is good and prob cost you 1400$ tuned, installed and 4 line handset.

:bs!:

mate, unless you have personal experience with a microtech (i do) (u don't seem to) you should not be posting such crap.

cold starts, fuel economy, drivability - a microtech can never match a properly done remap for day to day use.

remaps are a great way to go on R32s, we run both our race cars on remapped standard ECUs.

Plus you can get hold of these displays to go with the standard ECU but not with any aftermarket one :cheers:http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ighlight=impakt

Ive run a Microtech LTX8 on an RB20:) Apparantly the LT12 is an impreovement, but the LT8 range is no thing of beauty.

You need a strong electrical system as they are sensitive to voltage changes, so make sure your alternator cranks out strong voltage signal with headlights and stereo going...lol my car was a dog at night:confused:

Then there was the no closed loop control, so economy was not that great, and my car was tuned by 2 Microtech experts, these guys do plenty of Microtech installa and have 8 sec race cars etc etc. It took may attempts and months to get right, and it ended up taking an Autronic dealer/tuner to get the thing right:thumbsup:

When it was all said and done, it did run pretty well, and made good power, but never had the sort of light throttle response etc and general nice driveability that the remapped ECU in my R32 has and soon the Pfc.

LOL, i refer to the LTX8 as an electric carbie...it made the power fine, and at wide open throttle was th egoods, but thats not a day to day road car. And it never did have the spare output i needed to stop the thing from stalling at lights when i turned on the aircon:)

But the LT12? I was tempted, but wasnt convinced it was a big enough step from the LT8 range.

LT16 is being released, with self tune if you get the options.

doridori do you sell microtechs or something? you are about the only person who has ever had a good word for them, and there are plenty of other ECUs to choose...stock r32/powerfc/wolf/motec that don't have these problems

Im using a LINK ECU which seems to work fine and there are cars running 10's with these so they cant be that bad  but you need a good tuner.. dont go to AVO like I did and get stung heaps of $$$ for nothing in return.

Im told the Rajabs can tune these well, but then again, Im not even sure if you can get a LINK for a RB20, 25 or 26

Link, ive heard good from them reallly.. give them a shot.. i dont sell microtech new but i can source them used from a supplier for DIRT cheap :(

Seen the LTX16s and its awsome... ( beta )

can you guys please stop using drag cars as an example of how good an ECU is?

I can't imagine a worse way to judge an ECU.

The fastest drag cars going around are fed by carbies FFS. Are they better than electronic systems now?

A street driven car has to deal with a whole heap of parameters that a 10 second flat out drag car does to have to.

Temperature variations

Fuel quality

part throttle cruising

running air con

closed loop cruising

etc etc etc

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
