i have but finding a 4wd auto box is another story, and someone to build it.

it was going to cost ~$4-5k any way, so decided it was either a os cross mission or pfitzner...and after speaking to Simon @ PPGearbox, my mind was pretty set.

looking forward to giving there box a try.

I will be looking into the pfitzner box soon Judd, so please let me know how you go.

Are you also using the OS 3 litre bottom end?

Duncan, yes, the other 4WD Nissan auto boxes can be used as long as they fit the Rb26 block.

Keith, how did you find the HKS 6sp? Abflub gtr smashed a gear at Sportscompact attack over the weekend? I have now seen Trust and HKS dog box's smash gears with ~400kw

Hi Judd

Sorry i missed you post

The HKS box is good as long as it dont smash the dog rings

i had a HKS 6sp box smash 4th gear and you cant buy the parts for it anywhere

the box has to go back to HKS in Japan and they have to do all the work :)

I was told that it needs a rebuild once a year if you want it to last ????

the time scale and the costs made me want to sell it asap,so i

could buy a gearbox that i could get parts for off the shelf here in the UK

so happens that my tuner and good friend is the main importer for OS Giken

Hi Keith, Paul and Stacey here. We are trying a Pfitzner box in our drag r32 as well. We will let you know how it goes. Ran 11.2 (131MPH) on the weekend running full weight 3550lb with a stock gearbox and street tyres. High rpm shifting is very difficult without damaging the box due to the synchromesh setup. Looking at shedding some weight and fitting new box to get into the 10s. We also run HKS 2530 lowmount turbos on this car so a 10sec pass on these will be a real achievement.

11.2 is a good time for a full weight R32 with a pair of 2530 turbos

there was a guy last month running a Pfitzner box in a R33 with big ish

power and the box went bang dont know what broke in it ??.

You should be ok with the Pfitzner box if you damage it you wont have

a problem getting the parts to sort it.

Keith - have you tested again since?

Hi Munro

I have been testing this weekend and have managed to run the time's below

Drag Racing Info Today 1/5/05

Keith Cowie....R32GTR

1/4 Mile....9.632 sec

60ft...........1.605 sec

330ft.........4.143 @ 112.66mph

660ft.........6.24 sec

990ft.........8 sec

terminal speed was 148.14mph

I am just home after a 10 hour drive,i will post more later

Keith

That sounds like fun!!! Is the car behaving itself & staying straight now.

I went looking for old timecards & found this one -

60' 1.526, 330 not recorded, 660' 6.337 @ 117, 1000' 8.170, ET 9.637 @ 148.88

Best 60' to date has been 1.46. I think Keir is down in the 1.3s.

Keep up the good work, that would be getting close to the record in UK wouldn't it?

Hi Munro

Yes the car is going in a straight line now no problem.

Thanks Keith

Well where do I start.

Sorry for keeping this weekend a secret from everyone apart from Dave Wilkins

the reason for this was that I did not want everyone and there mother there expecting

me to run a good 1/4 mile time straight away.

We were having big problems with the car not wanting to go in a straight line when

on full power in 3rd,4th,5th and 6th gear, all I am going to say is that it was very dangerous

not knowing what way the car was going to go at 100+ mph.

On Saturday all we wanted to do was set the car up so that it would run a straight 1/4 mile

after playing with the wheel alignment and damper settings we had it going in a straight line

and it now feel's 100% safe to drive flat out.

The next job on Sunday was to get it to launch off the line, spent the whole day trying different

things with the Autronic software, but it kept bogging big time on the line

the car still managed to get up to 154 mph with a crap start,I was getting a bit annoyed that it

would not go off the start how I wanted it to,so I called Mark Shead from MAD and he told me

that the software needs another control box before the launch control will work as it should

part now on order from Autronic in Australia.

On the Monday I went for 2 slow runs to warm the engine and the transmission up then

I tried a run,it still bogged a bit with the launch control set at 8000 revs I did a 10.17

here is the times from the slip below.

1/4 Mile....10.17 sec

60ft...........1.801 sec

330ft.........4.628 @ 112.62mph

660ft.........6.81 sec

990ft.........8.591 sec

Terminal speed was 146.96mph

I was getting a bit pi$$ed off by now so I switched off the launch control and rolled up

to the startline again gave it everything off the line it took off,it caught me out a bit but I was

away without any bogging this time, everything was going ok until I missed 4th gear,I then

put it into 4th gear gave it everything in 4th then 5th and crossed the line,I thought it would be

another low 10 sec pass,I got a surprise when I was told I had done a 9.63.

we left the car to cool down a bit before running it again,we were about to run the car and the sky's opened

up and the strip was a washout,to say that I was gutted is a under statement I think the car could

have done a very low 9 sec pass on the day.

I now know that there is a lot more to come from this car and myself

this is the first time that I have driven the car in anger since TOTB and to drive it

flat out for the first time is very daunting to say the least

Very very happy

Keith

my set up is very similar to yours

drag radials

hks drag suspension

1.5 cusco front & rear

900 odd ps (t51 r, giken rb 30, jun INT 69-11.35 BC 29 EX 68-11.35 BC29 cams)

midori top front adjustable camber mounts

cusco rear adjustable camber

urethane rear sub frame mounts

I realize that I am cheeky asking BUT I would really appreciate it if you would give me an idea of what camber, caster, toe in, damper setting's & ride hight to run, also tire pressure's. we should be firing up the car this week, unfortunately it will be a couple of months before it hits the track due to other commitments & the fact that its winter down here.Being a brit I have spent many a good weekend at the 'pod' do you remember the houndog funny car ? or Sammy Millar running a sub 4 sec quarter in his rocket ? about 1980, probably before your time ! thanks- John

Keith, well done. Massive half track MPH and huge trap speed. Those 60' times won't be so slow for much longer and then you will be all over a low 9 and hopefully knock-knock-knocking on an 8 with more development!

Very cool indeed.

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
