Been thinking about getting a boost gauge for the Stagea, but can't make up my mine where to mount the damn thing.

I don't want it to stick out anywhere, really don't want to drill holes or cut any of the dash up :P

Then I thought (seems it came with a factory tv screen) about the HKS CAMP.

It can display a heap of sensors etc, and on Yahoo Japan auction site there's a few there for around $150. But I have no idea how to get something that's being sold on the Jap Yahoo auctions :)

Plus I love stealth, so when I'm not using it I'll just fold it away (the screen slides away when the igintion is turned off :( )

Now, if I get a decent boost gauge and a mount/pod etc, I'll be up for close to that amount anyway.

So, anyone got one ? What do they think of them?

Cheers

J

ive looked at it (with the tv i have) and was keen on doing it

just lost interest in it really. funkymonkey has it and he has a tv as well

but im not sure if its setup or not, you could ask him

i believe he may be able to source it for you

in fact if he can and its $150 i may be interested too

This is all the addons you can get for it

CAMP Junction Box

Boost Pressure Sensor

CAMP Boost Sensor Harness

Temp (Low) Sensor

CAMP Water / Oil Temp Harness

EGT Sensor w/Stainless Mount

CAMP EGT Sensor Harness

CAMP Volt Harness

Gezz, I didn't realise that Alamo Motorsports was in Melb. I was looking at the $219 price tag and thinking it was in USA dollars !! **edit** hahaha, it's in Melbourne all right, Melbourne Florida USA !!!

Now we just need to figure how to wire the sensors straight to the CAMP computer without having to buy a junction box.

J

I had the circuit diagram for the junction box on my PC but for the life of me I can't find it. GRRR...

CAMP's are awesome. They give you all the functionality of the R34 HUD, but with the added coolness of a fishtank and datalogger :)

jayr33 are u going to buy it? i would but im not keen on splicing all the crap into my ecu harness

If I (or Funky) can find the wiring diagram for the junction box then I'll probably end up getting one.

But the junction box is a bit more than the CAMP computer itself :) so if I can get the wiring diagram for the junction box I won't bother...

Funky - is the diagram just wiring, or does it have some sort of circuity in it too ?

Cheers

its a few chips and bits. Think I etched a PCB as well for it, honestly can't remember, was too long ago... nothing major as I didn't have to get the pic programmer out or anything.

I reckon $219 is good value. Mine cost $175 secondhand including postage with an extra remote and a 2mb storage card. I bought it off yahoo japan.

Cool, that shouldn't be any problems then. Sounds like just a few switching IC's etc..

Would be awsome if it pops up :)

Oh, that site is in the US, in Florida :) So it'd be $220us, or about $290ish plus postage.. The Yahoo Japan auctions sound like a better deal.

Jay as I said, if you're happy with the price I gave you I can source one and have it EMS'd off to you. As for the manual, this I can provide. I have an English manual which I used plus I translated some of the operators manual from Japanese and made a quick Cheat Sheet so I knew what I was doing. The menu and all that itself is self explanatory as most of it is in English.

I'm wondering if any other companies make something thats the same as the HKS Camp but doesnt have the 'visual basic in 1997' screen output? something that looks a bit more horn? i've got 7 glorious inches of touchscreen i dont want going to waste on something that looks like its being pumped out by a commodore 64 :P

Thanks Funky, sounds really good. I just want to make sure I can get the junction box circuit diagram so I can run the extra sensors (boost and low temp are the sensors I'd like to monitor). If I need to buy the junction box it turns into a pretty expensive project ;)

pentae, the camp can be connected to a PC to feed it live readings, I'm sue someone can develop a frontend for it. I've written a basic script that captures the data into a logfile.

Digging up an old thread... has anybody made any more progress on this? I'm planning on putting a PC in the dash to replace the factory Xanavi unit and the idea of having guages available on there and not having to mount pods and stuff is very appealing to say the least... for $300 (if I don't need to pay extra for any other wiring setup etc) it sounds plausible to me, either new or secondhand...

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
