Nope - he was 0.1s slower than me.

The 1.08 was a 1.08.95 apparently. And the 1.04 never happened. The car had gearbox problems and of coarse as people do (see Brisby) they said "If the car was running I reckon we could have got a 1.04". (Yeah right!) It was an un-backed up boast thats all. The GTR was fastest and the Supra was second - less than 0.1s behind.

It is the full track. Last year the best time posted in this comp was a 1.13. I told Nige he should be aiming for a 1.10 before he left.

Well like i said then, its an awesome job to do that time around the full circuit. If the GTR is quicker again with its T88 then again that is a brilliant job.

A WRX time of 1:04 isnt impossible, but knowing the sort of mods the car would have had, id say its very unlikley. Hats off to the Supra and the GTR, they are brilliant times considering the problems and the amount of track time they had. Even with perfect prep and plenty of practice they are still brilliant times.

Anyone have secondhand tyres(17s) that even diametter all round for sale? I now have proper rims for the GTR but ran out of dosh for the rubber :P .

Mr Brisby if i can get rubber in time i'll go harvy with ya on that magic drum ( if Inasnt car is not in that is ).

Love to run on Sandown since its near my joint.

I'll drag the new car down there and race you troy with the fuse pulled on a couple laps to see what the gtst could have done with bigger turbos. Will that put me in rwd modified as well as 4wd? It sould be a good chance to learn how to slide a gtr around because after almost crashing it at over 140k on a turn after owning the car for 5 minutes I don't really trust it on the tighter corners going fast. The back goes out like the gtst but the front wheels pull you into the corner so you have to correct to oversteer as soon as the back starts to loose traction which I guess just means I can't be as lazy at driving. See you guys there.

LOL...im so pumped about this day. Its shaping up to the be the first track day since getting to Melbourne where the car will be sorted without a problem with tyres, brakes and tune all sorted:)

Thing is i want to throw on a new turbo but fear this will eman another few wasted track days until i get IT sorted...decisions - decisions:)

Gareth - good to see you've learnt that driving a GTR quickly isn't as easy as some Hill Billy's like to think. We've seen your not afraid to punt a car hard and you already know Sandown so I'm real keen to see what you can do around there.

No need to pull the fuse either as Roy now has more than the required 3 RWD Mod entries to compete against.

Roy if your car doesent get towed off during atleast 1 session then it just wouldnt be right!!! :P

Yep - Nige is an SAU member. Member #053.

You also have Denham and Wayne anyways in RWD mod. So if Nige comes (btw - he has confirmed he is coming yesterday) that makes 4 cars in RWD mod at this stage to the best of my knowledge.

:P

Blah, blah, blah...ppl dont allow / listen to my excuses, so your time of ...that slow time...stands:)

And that goes for Sandown and Phillip Island:)

Me walks off talking about a waste of +300rwkws :)

You stop ragging on me and ill leave you alone:)

Dont have any cash for engine rebuilds at the moment so now 300kw runs :P

Is this ur first time at sandown?

Did a 1:36, a 1:32 then a 1:30.06 then it rained.:P

3 hot laps, LOL on the first hot lap i went off at turn 1 and flat spotted the front left tyre which left me with a horrible vibration all day and a tendency to continue to lock that tyre:(

At the end of the day i was doing 1:31s in the drying conditions:)

I put down 1.32 expected time on the entry form

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
