Hey Guys,

This takes the cake..

Just took the car to the petrol station for some gas, came out and had these nice old guys marvelling at my GTR, asking questions about it, amazed and in awe.. I was being pretty friendly towards the fellow nissan enthusiasts who had an older done up pulsar.

Anyway so we're briefly talking and this guy in a v8 comes up next to us and goes "WHATS IT GOT IN IT MAAAaaattee".. One of the guys goes "Hah! we where just talking about that" Bogan sensors going crazy I suggested that it was a Skyline when the bogan insisted on asking if it was a Silvia.

Now let me at this part of the story paint a picture for you.. The bogan had some 16 year old slapper from the pub firmly planted in his passenger seat. I dont know much about commodores but I know my friend has a VP and its the same bubble shape, though I could tell from the note it was a v8.

Anyways this guy loses it saying "Dont talk to me about cars mate" (after telling him what car I owned) "It sucks air" (or something to that effect) "I'm taking mine down south to get supercharged blah blah blah 400kw" "Smoke your Jap CRAP"

Meanwhile, me and these other guys are dumbfounded, one of the guys goes "Yeah that thing looks like it needs a baby seat in the back."

I was too shocked to utter the fateful "Go back to ipswich/woodridge/inala mate" but it had to happen.

Anyone else got any Bogan encounter stories? :)

haha, well i used to drive a vl with 26 and now in the stagea i get heaps of p plater vn's and vp's coming up for drags when im just cruisin along casually, and aint coped any bogan comments yet, but they always look and stare and then i put my foot down and they just looked stunned lol

one memorable one was a young boy in a pulsar sss with full racing shit all over it and farting exhuast, he comes next to me at about 60kmh and drops it back a gear and looks at me and he takes off infront, so i just drop it back and went past him soo damn quick and into the distance i would have loved to have seen his facial expression as i went past :)

gotta love sleepers :Pimp2:

Bwahahaha... Every single Falcodore bogan wannabe who has ever made the effort to stop and "have a chat" about any Skyline I've been in / with has always, ALWAYS been "gunna" get it turbocharged / supercharged next week / month...

Take it as a compliment... Jealousy at it's finest... :)

in the frst 2 days i had my car bogan ford drivers would come up n say dumb s*** like that, suprisingly no commy drivers have ever said/done anything that would hint anything of what they thought about the car, just ford drivers, i dislike them all lol.

theres 2 many stories for me to tell so meh to it :).

True that and they all just think thay can bolt in on and away it goes. No other mods required. idiots

it'd be funny when they tryed to but, there engine would go boom fizzle snap, and then we'd be like.... so much for V8 power.... lol

This is a classic:

About 6 years ago I was with my younger brother in his S13 Silvia (it was stock), and these two losers in a VN roll up beside us at the lights on our right. My bro's air con needed regassing so we had our windows down all the way, so the losers in the VN roll theirs down while just pointing and laughing at us... really ironic as their VN was the biggest piece of sh!t with chrome hubcaps and body moulding unstuck and drgging on the ground.

Anyway, they start (omg - this is just so unexpected! :D) revving their engine. At this point my bro had full composure and just started picking his nose... what a champ. The lights go green and VN makes a loud noise and off he goes down the road breaking the speed limit obviously. So we take off normally and up ahead the VN *slamms* on their brakes just as they go past a cop on a motorcylce coming out of a carpark... teh VN slowed right down and as we drove past them we just start pointing and laughing as those VN 'tards just sink in their seats... 30 seconds later they get pulled over...

classic rezz...classic

we had the same sort of thing when we were travelling in our r31

pulled up to the stop lights (dad was driving) and this commy shit pulled up next to us

bogan p plater thought that he could be the shit and b tough

revved the shit out of the engine and the sort

dad just kept a straight face

light went green, dad got the jump

mashed the accelerator down and left the commy in the dust

those dickheads didn't know what happened

it was the funniest shit ever (especially a full passenger load (2 adults 2 older teens) and not even accelerator on the floor - had he done that would have left the biggest black mark ever from my dad!!)

Out here there are plenty of bogans. Usually in utes.

I had a 5.0 VT (or whatever) ute next to me in a dual lane 60 area. He stood on it chirping the wheels and taking off, then he'd slow down wait for me and do it again. Then would call me a ricer (my car ain't rice at all), or a homo.

So I kept on cruising along until we got into an 80 zone, and stood on mine a little, just enough to stop him pulling ahead, then I'd brake. No way I was going to speed for him.

So he swerved AT me, as he was shitty. Thats when I ate him all up.

Then we got to the corners, and to this day its the last I saw of him :D

To me, swerving is poor form.

rezz: yeah ive got a similar story, i was with a mate in his lancer ( modded ) in braody one time, some dude in a vx clubby pulls up beside us, wasnt a bogan but, was some lebo.... revved the shit ouf ot his engine, and screamed off from the lights, my mate took of slowly as you do, coz we noticed the cop car about 200ms or so up the road, he got pulled over, we drove past pointing and laughing lol :P.

dnb: thats true, i get the "fully sick yulleh" comments from time to time from people when they see my car ( not bogans either, jst normal morons ).... oh what bs pizza has put on people that drive import cars ( not that i dont like pizza, i reckon its a good as show lol ).

Yeah, same sort of crap over and over,

The amount of commondores and falcon's I get cruising past,

( Auto's too mind you, with 10" tachos and massive commodore and falcon stickers, so the idiots don't forget wich car is theres when the go back to the carpark.)

that sit and stare then proceed to rev the hell out of there motors in nutural can only make me laugh. Ever so sweet leaving them in a cloud of burnt rubber, then as you back off when reached the speed limit, they fly past all pissed off.

Not putting sh_t on our friendly aussie cars, but don't you find the majority of wankers drive them?

I havn't had any takers with my skyline, but mum drives a modded Volvo T5-R (230kw) it's bloody quick once your off the line (dam FWD).

So mum was driving home with me passenger, when these bogans in a V8 VK commo pull up next to us, and stare at the car. The lights turn green, and they take off, mum started moving then put her foot down, we stopped at the speed limit, and they screamed past us (after they cought up) but they were looking straight ahead. owned by a Volvo

haha, i love reading these story threads. ive found that these bogan type people that need to 'mouth off' about imports are intimidated by them. chances are theyve been blown away by a few skylines before, they cant do anything about it on the roads, so they have a go at you verbally + reel out the old "gunna supercharge it & smoke your car"

I believe this is termed "The loser fly-by."

true. i had an old torana tailgating me on the freeway just the other day, so i waited until the uphill & gave it a bit of a boost, leaving him quite some distance behind (funny cos i could see he was trying to keep up), im sticking to the speed limit. so on the downhill the guy gets this huge run up and flys past me

Nah...I've had nothing but respect from most people when I've told them I have an R32 GTR now even hardcore V8 fans...most know it from the old Group A days and its consequent reputation as 'Godzilla'.

No ones really had anything bad to say at all :(

Apart from my boss who shat herself when i took her for a drive!

I did stop late at night at a BP servo with it, it was pissing down with rain and as I was filling up this Young 'drunk' dood came staggering over, he wanted a lift to Fremantle, to which he had no chance, but he kept hanging around and told me how nice the car was and funnily enough he knew it had an RB26 twin turbo, said he'd love to own a GTR one day...and actually half knew what he was talking about....I was almost tempted to take him to Freo.....but nah...Spew is hard to remove from Carpet

    • Actually, that's not entirely true. It's also the same motor in the 1st gen Nissan Cube but they're rare as hen's teeth.
    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
