Right-o.

Well, after a (retarded) trucky decided to turn in to my front fender a couple of days ago, its time to get the panel checked for straightness and the nasty scratch/es removed or baby jesus (me) will cry every time he sees his car. I thought I might also get a few chips/scratches removed at the same time. Might also see about a flowcoat.

Anyway, that's a long way of asking for some recommendations. I did some searching and came across the following recommendations:

Xclusive Colours - Tosh, Duncan

Vision Auto Smash Repairs - Tosh, Carlo

Sydney Central Panelbeaters - Richard

MC Racing Group - 2GU UP

Does anyone have any others, or experiences (good and bad) with the above that they care to share (even if only via PM)?

Thanks guys,

Baby Jesus (with tears).

Haha good searching :D

I still stand by Louie at Xcsclusive Colours, he does top quality work at a good price....I think he is also close to giving a further discount to SAU NSW members as well ;)

As for Vision, pm me if you want my opinion....I have used them twice

Good luck getting it sorted :D

Where are Xclusive colours based? Do they have a website?

According to whitepages there are two:

Xclusive Colours

Xclusive Colours are at the Wentworthville Address. G&S Bodyworks are now at the Yennora Address.

Well.. Went and spoke to Louie at Xclusive Colour.  Nice enough guy.  $300 to respray the front left guard and front bar.

Oh, and whereis.com.au proves once again its totally useless.

Might try and get a few more quotes tomorrow.

Lucien.

thats a good price!!

lucien,

try David @

Lustre - Glo

9557-35-30

64-70 Sydenham rd

Marrickville 2204

they're a smash repairer but paint specialists and have been around for a long long time '65 i think

my gf's car is in there at the moment getting a full kit fitted and painted

thats costing $1k, i'm pretty happy with that price.

considering the number of smash repairers in that area you could prob shop around a bit too and compare. i shopped around and the next cheapest for the same job was 1600 and 1900...!

they hav pretty good service, call to update every couple of days etc,

hey everyone,

just wanting to know if exclusive colours will fix any body alignment issue that the car might have from the accident i had at eastern creek a few weeks back. I've replaced all the panel but the reinforcement bar sits about 10-15mm to the passenger side, which seems like the rails might be abit off.

Would they fix this stuff??

Cheers

George

i'm sure they can do that.

I know sydney central can do it too. :) it's most likely just a matter of a slide hammer in the right spots! i would say it's unlikely you've actually bent the chassis, more likely that the reo is slightly bent, or the bits it mounts to. something like that.

Lucien, how did you go in the end? did you ever get a chance to see Tony at SCP?

it seems to me its where the front support bar meets the chassis it all shifted accross, even with the new bar on there it sits over to the passenger side still. I didnt think i hit that hard.

I will be visiting both SCP and exclusive next week hopefully if i get my car back from the mechanics.

Hey Richard,

Sorry about the slow reply. Stupid forum changeover meant I am no longer subscribed to the thread.

Still haven't done anything about this (for my car). Managed to bang up part of my mother's car ( :P ) so I will be doing the quote thing again next week so will hopefully get to Sydney Central if things at work slow down a bit. Might try Xclusive again if I have time.. its just a hassle getting out there.

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
